    Hi All.

I have now upgraded rolo to the 42inch crate. As unsightly as it may be he needed more space. I dont think hes ready to be decrated at night yet....

The thing is it seems so big and hollow and plasticy now.. he used to just sleep on vet bedding... but he threw up on it and I could NOT get rid of the bile smell so that went in the bin. He has a purple bed (material not plastic) in there now.. but it only takes up about 1/4 of the crate.. so the rest is the hard plastic bottom - What would you do to make it more comfy?

    Thanks

Well, Ella's never been in a crate but she's always had a bed with lots of blankets and a pillow (the one that came from her breeder when we got her) that I fluff up and arrange for her at night before she goes to bed

Depends if you've got a destroyer or not though...

Stanley has an extra large plastic bed in his. He's got like 4 or 5 blankets in it.

He used to have big soft fluffy beds - but he chewed 4 or 5 of them up so he's been demoted to plastic now. He was fuming!

I use waterproof crate mats. I have loads of them. I use them in crates, as settle mats, in pens, in the back of the car.

To clean them, I wait for a sunny day, stack them up and brush them off with a yard brush and disinfectant, and leave them in the sun to dry. Bit harder in the winter than the summer, but they still dry in a day or so propped up in the utility room.

I've never had a pup chew them yet (although I do cut off the labels!).

I used to buy the bigger ones, but now buy small ones. Two will fit sideways in an extra large crate (56in).
