As your puppies were growing into adult dogs, did you ever have that realization about their size when next to other larger dogs? My sister's dog is 85 lbs, and another sister's dog is 75 lbs. They both seem like "big dogs" to me. I have never thought of Aspen is that big of a boy. But lately, as he has been standing next to them, I realize just how big he is getting to be. Other people will tell me he is so big but I just didn't see it because I am with him everyday. Now I think I am starting to see it!
I have that realization every time Teller decides he wants to be an 80 lb lap dog or when he steps on my feet and leaves bruises! It also hits me when he sits next to his Shih Tzu 'sister' or touches noses with the cats. Oh, and when we rescued some baby bats and none were bigger than his nose lol. And, of course, he's not exactly small compared to me either!
I don’t find Axel big until I see him around other labs and then I’m like oh ok yes you are big. I took him out and about on the weekend and I was asked several times what is he because he’s ‘too big’ to be a purebred, which he 100% is He better fill out because he is so tall and lanky but he’s two now so maybe he’s done...
