My goodness doesn't time fly past quickly in a dog's life. My girl is 7 years old today and although I know dogs can't possibly have any awareness of birthdays I still felt bad about "dumping" her in kennels this morning. We are off on a regular 2 day business trip tomorrow so Lady gets "dumped" once or sometimes twice a month into kennels for 3 nights each trip. I actually think she looks on it as a home from home. Occasionally she's a bit reluctant to get out of the car but mostly, like today, she's out of the car and into the office in a flash - all waggy tail and "Hello everyone, it's me again!". She actually dragged the kennel maid round to her kennel this morning without a any thought for a look back at me. She does have her regular kennel and run of course. Anyway, picking her up on Tuesday and might just possibly make a real fuss of her and give her a special treat for supper!
Happy Birthday Lady - if you have to spend your birthday in kennels, you get two Birthdays - a real one, and an official one at a more convenient time - just like the Queen. Which means two sets of edible gifts (you make sure Dad knows that).
Happy Birthday Lady! Sounds like home from home, and your own kennel maid to fuss over you! Soon be Tuesday, ready for birthday number 2!
