Hi all, So whilst my wife was out walking Millie off the lead at a park near us it seems she was set on by a Collie. It's only now we've noticed she's been bleeding from a small bite mark on her back. Should we call the vet out for this or do you think she'd be ok until the morning when we can take her in ? She seems fine in herself jumping and playing etc... Never had this happen with our previous dog so not sure what to do
Re: Bitten by another dog Do you have any Hibiscrub solution ? If so, dilute some and bathe the wound thoroughly , failing that, use salt water , dilute about a teaspoon of salt in a cup of boiling water, allow to cool and bathe . If the wound isn't deep , she should be alright until tomorrow morning, if in doubt, make a phone call, poor little love what a shame .
Re: Bitten by another dog I would bathe it with salty water (1 teaspoon per pint of cooled boiled water) and wait to see what it's like tomorrow.
Re: Bitten by another dog Riley got bitten on his ear and it was bleeding. I cleaned it up with dilute Hibiscrub and kept and eye on it. No vet visit needed but it was quite a small puncture. Hope it clears up quickly and the are no after effects. Poor Millie
Re: Bitten by another dog Oh poor Millie, Hattie was bitten by a dog a few months ago and he punctured the back of her neck causing bleeding. I cleaned it with a salt solution regularly, kept an eye on it and no vet visit needed. Hope Millie recovers soon and just keep a watchful eye that it doesn't become infected xx
Re: Bitten by another dog As everyone has said clean the wound. Is it a puncture wound ? Does it look like a hole ? With a bite wound its best to keep cleaning the area and not let it heal over too quickly to make sure all the germs are out. My old lab had a puncture wound which I didn't find. It healed over and became an abscess. The vet told me to clean it with hibiscrub and not let it scab over but heal from the inside. If in doubt nip her to the vets to be checked but if it's not too deep cleaning should be fine. I hope she is alright.
