Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with services like borrow my doggy? I have to work away at least one day per week and my husband had been told that he can no longer work from home so I'm in a panic. I don't want to leave my little pup alone all day so I'm left with two options: doggy day care or pet sitting/ borrowing. I don't know much about either and although I think my dog will LOVE doggy day care I'm worried it's too early to send her there as it might undo all the training we've been doing. She is 4.5 months old. Any experiences/ suggestions? Thanks Lou
Hi, I have used borrow my doggy, Otis my lab is nearly three, but i have been using it since he was about eight months. I find it reallygreat, you can interview the people who you would like, after putting your profile on the site. At the moment, I have a young energetic man called Harvey, who takes Otis out for about three hours at the weekend, jogging with him, and playing with him, he takes him to his home too, they have a ball. It is all done out of love for the dog, and is free, apart from the subscription you pay to the site. Maggie
Thanks Maggie, that's really good to know. I'm going to see our local doggy day care later to check out all of our options but I think I'd feel more comfortable with another devoted person
Are there dog walkers in your area who could come in a couple of times during the day? Have you family living nearby who could call in to exercise/play
Homer has been to dog day care since he was 4 months old. He goes every week day during term time. They are a very reliable, so we pay the fee. Occasionally on holidays and weekends we have friends and neighbours when will willingly 'borrow' him for the day, but not always reliable to be available.
That's also really good to know, I think I've found a nice one nearby. Rosemary- unfortunately No family in the area and no one we know who would be free during the day one day every week. I've considered a walker but that would mean leaving her alone for hours at a time and she's just not used to it. As I work from home usually she is hardly ever left alone. I'm sure she would get used to it but if prefer her have people/dogs around her if pos.
