Question for anyone doing Boundary Games (Absolute Dogs). We have been stuck on the RELEASE (which is ultimately, the most important bit) for nearly a week now. I've been using a new cue "BREAK" - Usually I use "FREE" when Coco's responded to a cue and I want to let him know he can do what he likes now, and he's really struggling with "BREAK". I've stepped back a bit and started to lure off the boundary with an empty hand along side the cue, followed by the food toss, and I believe he is getting it slowly. Is there a better approach? The "Tom & Lauren" approach on the video is not working for us, we've been at that for at least 5 days. He loves getting on the bed (boundary). We've not yet introduced the cue to get ON the bed. I need a nudge.

We were stuck on this for a couple of days, I don't have the video but am following the ebook. I resorted to patting my leg like I do to encourage her to me while saying "break" before dropping the food. It seems to have worked, I'm pretty confident she's got it now.

My lot were a bit lethargic getting off after I had built value in the boundary. I found using my "reeaaaaddddyyyy..... steeeaaaaadddyyyyy....." anticipation builder before my release ("OK!") worked really well at building the enthusiasm for the release.

Also, I really think high energy in most of the TA games makes a massive difference. I don't want my dogs to be feeling like they're at school, I want them to really feel like it's all play, and keeping the energy up by using a lot of excitement does that. I try to harness my "inner Blink" :D

Is there a reason you have to use a new release cue? (Genuinely interested.)

No there isn't really. I'm just trying to keep it separate from everything else at the moment.

I think we've moved forward - he's starting to understand the release & learn how good it its.
