My husband noticed this morning that our 14 week old puppy has a broken fang tooth. We think this must have happened Monday afternoon as this is when she started to not be herself. I feel awful for not noticing it sooner as she must be in so much pain.

We have the vet later this afternoon, my husband thinks it might need extracted. Does anyone else have any experience of this in such a young puppy?

Hi Christina, I've not seen a puppy with a broken tooth before, but around 4 months old her baby teeth will be falling out soon anyway :) Hopefully it's not causing her too much discomfort, do let us know how she gets along! Best wishes, Lucy

Hi Lucy, Luna is going in today to have the tooth extracted. It is broken right down to the nerve and is at risk of infection. Also it is causing her so much pain she isn't sleeping right at all and distressed.

Hopefully tonight she will be a bit happier and will get some good sleep.

I hope so JD, I felt awful when she was up last night and not being able to do anything to help her. The only thing bringing her comfort was mouthing my hands, safe to say she was aloud to do this last night

    Good news.
Be prepared that she might whine all evening. Toby does after an anaesthetic and is then right as rain the next day.

She is a good sleeper and was exhausted when we took her in this morning, she also doesn't like being confined in a crate so will most likely been barking the surgery down!

She will get a lovely big dinner and that will most likely be her sound asleep at our feet

She cried a lot on Thursday when she got back but once she had the metacam she settled down. She was a sleepy and cuddly girl on Friday and now back to her usual self :)
