We don't get regular squirrel vistis here, which i think saddens dad a little at times, only because he is probably remembering days gone by. We did see one last year, just the once, nosing around but then it vanished into the trees and has not been back since. You need to train your eyes to really follow them though Pongo as they are quick and agile. Whether they will stick around long enough for you and them to have a conversation is something that would be mighty funny to watch and listen to. Unfortunately, if the likes of you or i, or any of our other friends, even make a movement towards them they seem to just run off into places we cannot reach them. Rather rude if you ask me but maybe this is their way of playing with us.

    Hi Bud,

Squirrels are great! We have lots in the garden but they're too quick for me. i NEARLY got one on my walk this morning, but just as my lead let me go as far as I could it dashed up a tree. The trouble is, squirrels don't play fairly because they should know I can't follow up there. I think I'm going to have to learn to climb trees. It shouldn't be too difficult because I watched the tv box thing one evening and saw lots of animals including a cat climbing a long way up a wall. Tuppence was fast asleep but I couldn't take my eyes off the tv box thing as there was so much to learn. Perhaps if I could learn climbing I could catch squirrels AND get away from Tuppence, because she won't know how to do it. There might be a problem with climbing, though, because although I saw how the cat climbed UP the wall I didn't see how it came DOWN again. I'd hate to get stuck up the tree ... :-[

I hope your "gay zebra" comes today. You'll be able to have great fun helping and if it comes in a box you can play hide-and-seek in that too. I love playing hide and seek with my toys.

Time for my nap now. I'm going to dream of squirrels!

    Good Morning Wispa,

If you master the art of climbing trees please do pass on to me how to also mange this as i think it would be really cool to explore those places far off the ground!! I wouldn't be surprised though if Tuppence actually finds a way to follow you - escaping her may not be an option after all :)

Our gazebo thingy came yesterday and boy was it exciting helping mum and dad put it together. I found these long pieces of material which i ran around and around with, and every time dad tried to attach these metal PEGS i ran of with the material again (dad says it was like an Andrex puppy trailing toilet paper!!!) And then when they were trying to fill these white objects with water to place around the bottom of the legs, i would help them by carrying this little cap that holds the water inside. And then even more fun was had when dad was attempting to hang these PANELS up, i would rush through them like a fast game of peekaboo. Eventually i decided to let dad finish on his own, and when i next went outside this new shelter was waiting, which stops the wind and the rain from getting us wet and cold. There were mum and dad's outside comfy seats and a little table, these things they put their feet up on, and my outside bed. We stayed out there for a while as the night was closing in. It was really nice and relaxing.

Right, time for a bit of a snooze following a visit to a new grassy area for my morning walk and run. Catch up with you soon Wispa. Keep dreaming of those squirrels.

    Bud

    Isn't snow FUN, FUN, FUN!!! ;D ;D

Just a quick few words following a lovely early morning walk in a park area i had earlier today. Even though i had seen, and felt, and even tasted this snow stuff before, today was my longest walk, and run, and play on this great fluffy white floor. I ran and ran, and jumped about madly, and sniffed, and licked, and then jumped up at dad many times to get him to play with me. He seemed to also enjoy this snow.

Tired myself out a little though, and now going to have a late morning nap. And possibly dream of more snow.

    Happy playtime everyone. Be safe.

    Your friend Bud.

Hi Bud, I'm glad you got to have a good play in the snow - isn't is FUN?! Yesterday, we went for a looooooong walk with our sister, Annie and Uncle Buster. It was a bit longer than we're supposed to go for at the moment, but we were having so much fun that Mummy let us stay out longer. It wasn't a very hilly walk, but it was somewhere we haven't been before and it was full of lots of really deep snow. We had lots of pine cones thrown into the snowbanks for us. Have you played with pine cones? They're our favourite!! They go under the snow, so we have to dig and dig and dig for them! Shadow always takes his back to Mummy or Daddy to have it thrown again, but I like the feeling of it in my mouth, so I hold onto it for longer .... at least until Shadow's gets thrown again and I'll chase that! Sometimes I manage to get two in my mouth at once! It's not a problem, though, because there's always lots more of them to find.

When we woke up this morning, there was LOTS of snow on our terrace - and it still hasn't stopped snowing! Because it was deep, Mummy decided we should have our morning walk together instead of separately like she normally does. I think this is because the deep snow makes her slooooooow so she didn't have as much time. She straps these funny things onto her feet, which are big and flat with pointy bits underneath, so she can walk a bit more easily in the deep snow, but she's still a lot slower than us, so we get to run a lot backwards and forwards to her.

We're also training her really well. We have this new trick where we wait for her to blow a whistle, then we just sit down and get a treat for it. She only does it in certain situations at the moment, but I think if we continue with "proofing" (I think it's called), we'll be able to get her to blow it a lot more often in different situations - which means more treats! At the moment, though, she'd be too easily distracted when there's fun things around, and we have to keep it easy for her.

I hope you get to keep playing in the snow, my friend. It is so much fun. But it is VERY tiring. We have a special treat right now, because Shadow very cleverly took Daddy's pen when he was working this morning, so Daddy had to take it back off him, but as he did it, he knocked his mug of hot brown stuff all over our bed! So, Mummy put it in the washing machine to get it nice and clean (strangely, she didn't put Shadow in there, too, even though he had some on his foot), and she's just taken it out of the really warm place, so we have a lovely snuggly place to cuddle up on. It feels super nice when it's warm! It does make me even more tired, though, so I think it's time for our after-lunch snooze.

Play hard, eat everything you can and have very sweet dreams - until we talk again.

    Your friend, Willow xxx

Hello Willow. It certainly is fantastic fun playing in the snow. I find it really strange though how it just appears and disappears so easily. This morning it was soggy grass and mud, which i also enjoy a lot but dad seems a little unappreciative. Especially when i jump up at him and place my new muddy paw prints on his jeans and jacket! I think they look really cool but dad just looks at me as if to say "Really? Did you have to do that?" He tends to smile and shake his head afterwards though so i don't think he's mad. The way i see it, if i am going to get muddy then i want dad to join in and share my play time. :)

Do you have lots of hilly areas where you are Willow? You mention hills a lot in your chats with me but i haven't come across these just yet on my travels. Dad says they might tire me out a little more but i can't wait to try them out for myself one day.

I have actually played with pine cones-over the Christmas period we have not long enjoyed. They are quite a strange taste and texture i find. I don't really enjoy chewing them too much, and i am a very chewy pup. But they were great fun to move around and chase when thrown. It sounds like you love to bury your nose deep into the snow, much deeper than i think the snow has reached here.

Dad showed me a picture of those things your mum straps to her feet. Hehehe, they look really funny and clumsy Willow. I think i can understand how they work but i don't think my dad or mum would entertain them.

Hmmmm, is the whistle that noisy thing? That noise is not something i appreciate very much. I am beginning to think that i am not accommodating many of the normal training routines. If i don't like something i flat out refuse to acknowledge it. I was like this when really young with crates. Yet i know where i can sleep and toilet, and do so with very little problem at all. This whistle, and that clicky thing, do not interest me. They don't keep my attention like voice commands and hand gestures. I wonder if i am a rebel ;D Harmless yet independant. And growing with intelligence. My parents say i have heaps of character. That's good though isn't it?

Oh well my young friend, i am now going to have my after-breakfast nap, on my bed that has not long been cleaned in that same machine that you have mentioned. And you are so right, it is so cosy and snuggly i could just sleep for hours.

Stay safe Willow until we next catch up. Enjoy your play time, all the new tastes that i believe your mum will provide, and the most pleasant dreams to you too whenever you close your eyes. Look after Shadow too, as i am sure he looks out for you.

    Your friend Bud.xx

;D Hello Willow! It sounds like you are really taking the training thing seriously! Well done. My mum has started doing things with a whistle recently..... just in the last few days. As far as I can see it just means I get huge amounts of treats for doing nothing at all....which suits me fine! Maybe it will get more complicated in the future but right now it is what my dad calls 'money for nothing'....

Re: Bud's Story (an ongoing diary)

    Hi Bud and everyone!

Yes, I discovered SNOW recently too. It is just GREAT to run on....lovely and soft under my paws! But I haven't seen enough of it to bury myself in or lose anything in... that sounds like fun. Maybe I'll see more of it some time and I can try to lose myself in it.

Wow, Bud, I can't believe you haven't tried HILLS yet! You must live in a very different place to me. My dad and mum's garden is all one great big hill (mum says it is a "Threeyinwunslope" and "toowakers" in size, whatever that is) so ever since I arrived here I have had to learn to climb up steep hills and (even better) run down them again. I know mum was worried when I was little that it wouldn't be good for me, but really there wasn't any other option so I just did lots and lots of it and got nice and strong so it was easy for me.

Anyway..... HILLS. Bud, the second best thing about hills is what you can see from the top. I learned this very early. When I was in my puppyhome (which I can only just remember) it was all flat, and so I never really saw anything very far away (especially because my head was only about six inches off the floor). But when I arrived here and we went up to the top of the HILL for the first time, I sat and looked out into the distance and stared and stared and stared and stared and stared. Bud, you will not BELIEVE how big the world is! I still love going up to the very top of the garden and sitting at the edge of the terrace and looking out to watch everything going on in front of me - I can see THE WHOLE WORLD from up there and it is wonderful.

But the best thing of all about hills is that you can RUN DOWN THEM VERY FAST!!!!!! I like to wait at the very top of the hill while mum and dad walk slowly down to the bottom....they are always SO slow..... then when they are least expecting it I LAUNCH myself at them and FLY FLY FLY down the hill and my little legs hardly touch the ground and I reach the bottom going fastfastfastfastfast and have to screech around in a big circle to stop before I go through the hedge! And then I'm really excited so I have to run in tiny circles very very very fast and go crazy for a bit and that makes them laugh.

I hope you enjoy HILLS when you meet some, Bud!

Right, off for a little nap now. Mum and dad are both being Very Boring on their tappy things so I'll make the most of the time and go to sleep.

    Night night all

    Pongo

    Hi Pongo.

It would appear that i do live in a much different place to you as i am yet to experience HILLS. And let me just say WOW to the size of your garden. So much room that you could have races with lots of other Pongo's :)

It is not surprising that you have grown into such a big and strong dog with all the hilly exercise you get every day. As i get older i hope to get stronger in myself, and this will come with longer walks which i hope will eventually introduce me to these hills that are always going to be on my mind now as they sound so much fun. Mum and dad have been talking about when they think they will next go and see dad's family. They are in the SOUTHERN part of the UK where there are apparently BEACHES and HILLS. Sounds cool but i might have to wait awhile until dad can travel. Have you been on a beach Pongo?

Dad has said that i would get quite a challenge at one hilly area. Even mum struggled a little with it on her first visit. However, once you are at the top the view looking out is amazing, and depending on where you are the view is either overlooking the SEA, or overlooking GREEN FIELDS. So much for me to look forward to as i get older. And if i get to run reallly, realy, really fast down these hills then it will be worth the wait.

Anyway my friend, forgive me for keeping this short. I think dad is needing to rest as he was awake all night for some reason. I wanted to say a few words whilst i had the chance, but now i too feel a snooze calling to me. And then hopefully mum will be cooking more lovely food later like she did yesterday. The smells were simply amazing, but on this occasion i never got to taste them. Apparently there are some human foods that can make us pups and dogs quite ill - mum and dad are quite strict at monitoring what i eat, but it is for my own good. I do get samples of their food on occasions so dad in particular is softening a lot more than when i was little.

Right, keep on making your mum and dad laugh, and helping them with their gardening. And enjoy your uphill walking and downhill charging. My time will come soon enough.

Keep well and safe mate. Catch up soon.

    Bud

    BEEEECHES! HILLLLLS!!!

We've been to a beeeeeech, Bud, and it was SO MUCH fun! It was a really, really windy day when we went and the SEEE had come onto the land, making massive puddles for us to splash about in. Here's some pictures. We've not been there in a while, but Mummy says we'll spend a lot of time there when it gets warm again - yey!!

We already go for walks on little hills (well, they're big mountains really, but we don't go too far up because we're too little) but Mummy says when we're older, we'll be able to go MUCH higher. She went up the highest mountain in Andorra last summer and says one day we'll be able to go up with her and see VEEYUWS like this:

She said it will be a while until we're allowed to go to the very top, though, because it took TEN HOURS to go all the way up to the top and down again!

But don't those lakes look fun to go splashing around in?? Mummy says there's lots of other lakes we can go and play in that don't take quite so long.

We do love the snow, but we can't WAIT for some nice long walks in the summer!!!!

Your walk sounds fab, too - the SEA on one side and GREEN HILLS on the other sounds wow! Hopefully we'll get to see some pictures of you on your adventures.

PS We think Pongo's garden is definitely too big for just ONE Pongo, don't you, Bud?? 8)

Re: Bud's Story (an ongoing diary)

    Dear Bud,
My mommy reads me stories about you and your friends, and she thought maybe you would like an AMERICUN friend too ??? so she said I could send you a quick note and see if you want to hear about my adventures here? She says that having a PENPAL can be a fun way to learn about the world.

So Bud, let me tell you 5 things about me:
    1. I'm a girl and I have a pink collar, leash, and new pink harness this week. ;D
    2. I live with my mommy and daddy in a log house in the woods in IDUHO AMERICUH
    3. Almost every day I go to werk with my daddy. We ride in his car and then I have to PULL on my leash to take him to the store where he werks. Daddy's werk is fun and he sprays the water on the floor for me to chase...and I get to play and tear apart cardboard boxes EVERY SINGLE DAY.
    4. When it gets dark outside, my mommy stops by daddy's werk, and she takes me for a walk around the streets. But when mommy is on the leash...no matter how hard I pull...we don't go AT ALL. :-\ Mommy must be VERY strong. I am trying a new trick with her when she is so strong....if I turn around and look at her...or sit down...then she follows me PERFECTLY. She's pretty smart about this new trick. I get to ride back to our log house in mommy's car.
    5. My favorite toys are ones that make a squeak...they are SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

Ummm let's see...mommy said you and your friends live mostly in the YEWKAY...I don't know where that is...and you talk about HILLS and BEECHES and SEE... I don't know what those are either...well, Hills maybe...but not like Pongo says he has tall ones. The only things that are so tall here are the trees. Mommy said that a long long time ago our house was tall trees too. I don't know how that works - but she said that a tree stands UP and a log lies DOWN. :-\ Trees are interesting, aren't they?

Outside our house we have another big building close to us...it's a BARN. Do you know about BARNS, Bud? At the barn my daddy has a big giant door that opens, and inside the door is a TRACKTUR and lots and lots (and LOTS) of TEWLS. That's all in one big messy room. At the other side of the barn there is a small door that mommy keeps shut mostly. But she goes in there every morning and at nighttimes too in the dark. I have snuck in behind her to see what's in there before...and behind a metal gate inside there are GOATS. Their poo smells wonderful, and I like to sneak some  ...but don't tell my mommy ok??? Mommy said after the snow goes away there will be some BAYBEE goats too. We also have DUCKS....lots and lots of DUCKS ;D ;D ;D ;D they are almost as big as me...and I can make them flap their wings and make giant wind blow!!! 8) 8) 8) (and I sneak their poo too...don't tell my mommy that either please...)

Ok Bud, mommy says it's time to say good bye for now. It's been nice writing to you.

    Your new friend,
    Bella

    Hi Bella!

It's nuh-nights time for me, but I heard Mummy reading your message out loud so I had to pop on to ask ... your house is made out of LOGS?! Butbutbut where will you live once you've eaten all the logs, Bella?! That's just silly, making a house out of doggy playthings. Hoomans are a bit dim sometimes, aren't they?

Anyway, Willow is running in her sleep and kicking me in the head, so I have to go find a comfier place to snooze now.

Lovely to talk to you, Bella.

    Shadow x :)

    Hi Shadow!!! ;D

I never thought about eating the logs on my house     I really do like sticks...and the chopped up logs that daddy brings in the house...but that's different that the logs that make my house. Since you aren't from AMERICUH, let me see if I can explain it better for you.

There are lots of houses here made from big logs...I don't know why the hoomans do it like this....but maybe because we have so many trees. Wait...mommy just told me that almost all houses in the HOLEWIDEWERLD start out from trees   ...it's just how the LOGGINGMANS cut the trees that makes houses different. She said probably even YOUR house, Shadow, has trees hidden in it too. You probably better look.

I don't particularly see the logs in my house when I'm inside it....but two times every day my daddy goes out to another building by our house that is not the BARN, and he swings this big stick with a sharp piece of metal on it (metal doesn't taste as good as sticks) and he breaks apart the wood before he brings it into the house. It makes a terrible racket!!! But then he brings all the broken pieces into the house. I like to chew on these pieces, but I have to be sneaky and hide them...because if I don't...Daddy puts them inside the big black box and they burn up to nothing. Wood has lots of uses apparently....daddy says the ones he brings inside the house are called FIREWOOD...and the black box they burn in is called a WOODSTOVE. Do you have a WOODSTOVE to burn sticks in? They are very warm...I like to take naps by the WOODSTOVE...and sometimes if I am REALLY sneaky...I can sneak a piece of black almost burned up wood and chew on it....it tastes funny and doesn't last very long...but I do it anyway.

Is Willow your sister?? I have a sister too...her name is Crystal...she's HUGE and white and she sleeps on the sofa every night for a couple hours after mommy and I come home in her car. I sleep with mommy and daddy on their bed and there is NO ROOM for Chrystal too...so she sleeps outside under the tall trees.

Hey...where did you get a Mummy?? I saw one on the talking box once and it scared me...I'm not sure I'd like it if a mummy was in my house reading. And WHY are you sleeping NOW???? it's still light outside...you should be playing, Shadow!

    Bella :)

    Willow........Shadow.....Good Morning.

Really stunning photos. Did your mum take those images? it looks like you both had so much fun on your BEECHES and in the SEE (or as i prefer to say beaches and sea, but that is just me taking after dad, who actually smiles a lot when he hears the two of you speak, and Pongo and my newest friend Bella. Your grasp of language he says is unique and so very funny and uplifting.)

I don't know when i will get to travel over hills and beaches, and splash about in the sea, but i do know that mum and dad are talking a lot of introducing me to new smells and sights, where i can investigate more greens and browns and other natural landscapes. I might even come across more squirrels and other animals which will be fantastic, providing they want to play with me. I think this will be when the months are warmer and that bright sun shines on us and makes us lovely and warm much more often than it does at the moment! I can't wait. I also think this means that dad will be making extra special efforts but i do hope he copes ok because i am understanding more of his condition and it must be scary to not be comfortable around people. Whereas me....well, i want to play with and lick every person i see, play with every dog i see or even smell, and i think anything that moves is a potential playmate ;D

Anyway, i just dropped by to say thank you for the photos. It is always a delight to see you both, and to take a look at places you play and walk. And yes, those lakes do look rather tempting. I wonder how deep they are?

Oh and a definite yes regarding Pongo's garden. He must get lost in such space and certainly could do with lots of little Pongo's to guide him and keep him company ;D ;D ;D ;D

Willow, Shadow, have plenty of fun my friends. Keep safe and look after your parents too. Chat with you again soon.

    Bud.x

Hi Bud, hi Willow and Shadow, and HELLO BELLA!!!!

I'm shouting because mum says that Americuh is a long way from here so I hope you can hear me. Wow, your life sounds really exciting. Cardboard boxes every single day! That sounds like heaven. I am really lucky because my garden is big, but having cardboard boxes every day would be even better. Although perhaps not quite as good as HILLS.

I know about TRACKTURs. My dad has a really little one that he calls a tracktur but it only goes on our garden (it makes a really loud noise and spits out grass that I can play in). But next to our house is a track and big fields and a man goes out into the fields with lots of big TRACKTURs that I really really really want to play with. It is so rotten because mum and dad don't let me go play. In fact a long time ago there was a HUGE trackur thing in the field (mum said it was a KOMBEYENARVESTUH) and it asked me to go and play with this big whirry thing at the front that it was chasing and I nearly managed to go and play but mum shut me in the house. She seemed a bit worried, I have no idea why. Maybe if it comes back I'll be more lucky.

Names are very confusing, Bella. Mum says that a mummy here is the same as a mommy where you are. But does that mean that a puppy here is the same as a poppy for you? Would I be called Pungo over there, and would Bud be called Bod?

Anyway, friends, I've got to go and sort out mum - my dad is away at the moment and without my help she'll never get things right. I need to teach her the wrestle game that I play with dad (for some reason mum just can't get the hang of it). Still, we'll get there I'm sure.

    Speak again soon!

Hello Bud, (Pongo, Willow, Shadow, Bella and anyone else lucky enough to use the tippy tappy things)

I am sorry it has been such a long long time since I said hello, it's hard to find the time in between walks, eating, sleeping and playing isn't it?

I have never seen a squirrel before but yesterday on our long walk we met a huge Heron (that's what mum called it anyway) she had her tippy tappy thing out and I scared the heron and it flew away before mum could take a picture! Then there was a man on our walk he didn't have a dog tho which was very boring so I sneaked away from Mum and jumped up at the man to see if he had anything tasy but the man was angry Mum then started shouting my name and she looked very flustered. She said sorry to the man for me but he was not nice to her. This made me sad so I gave mummy lots of licks she was more angry because he had white trousers on! Do you get very excited when you see other hoomans Bud? I am only saying hello but some people don't like this I know.

Your gazebo sounds great, I wish we had one of those. I love helping mum do jobs too, especially helping her to put her socks on! My hooman sister has very nice socks they smell like the treats mum sometimes gives me I think she calls it CHEYS. When I find these socks I like to eat them, they sometimes come back up and then I eat them again but once after re eating one it didn't come back up it came out the other end! I'm not sure if it's worth eating them really. I still feel hungry after eating one so what's the point!

Well bud it's nearly time to take my mum for a walk, I hope we meet the man with the white trousers again, hopefully this time when I say hello he will give me something nice to eat

Take care, nice to catch up.

    Rolo

Hi Bud, hi Willow and Shadow, and HELLO BELLA!!!!

I'm shouting because mum says that Americuh is a long way from here so I hope you can hear me. Wow, your life sounds really exciting. Cardboard boxes every single day! That sounds like heaven. I am really lucky because my garden is big, but having cardboard boxes every day would be even better. Although perhaps not quite as good as HILLS.

    HI PONGO!!!
I can hear you fine, thanks for speaking up. I wonder how far it is between the YEWKAY and Americuh??? ??? ??? Mommy says we would have to drive for two hours to an AIRPORT and then get on a PLAYN for about 10 hours to get to the Yewkay....   That's really long I guess.

I do love cardboard boxes...but I'm curious about your big garden too, and your big hills. Maybe someday you could show me a picture? Mommy says that the werld is covered by all different kinds of places, which is why VAYCAYSHUNS are so fun....so you can see different stuff and have new EKSPEERENSEZ. I'm not old enough to go on a VAYCAYSHUN yet, but mommy says maybe next summer.

My daddy used to be a farmerman before I was born...and he has a whole room in our house that I'm not allowed to go in that has lots and lots and lots and LOTS of pretend trackturs. I will have to see if he has a KOMBEYENARVESTUH....he probably does ::) I don't know why he has all the pretend trackturs and why he won't let me play with them...

Wow Pongo...you are smart! Thank you for explaining about names. I'm glad to hear you don't have a scary mummy in your house!!!!

Um...no....here in Americuh a puppy is a baby dog like me, and a poppy is a pretty red flower. I think maybe its just the mummy/mommy thing.... (what's that??? Oh....I see...) Mommy says that sometimes people in different parts of the werld talk different than we do...and so words that are pretty close SOUND different because of how they learn to talk. I haven't ever met a hooman from the yewkay before but mommy says they will sound different to me. Mommy says there is a man who werks at her COLLIG who is from the yewkay and maybe I can meet him next time I come to COLLIG with her.

Mommy says my time is up, that I need to rest up before my trip to see my favorite Doktor Nancy tomorrow. She is such a nice lady, and her werk is so full of fascinating smells!!!!!

    Until later,
    Bella

    Dear Bella,

Hello young Bella. Welcome to my home from home where i get to chat with and share advice, and basically have fun, with my canine friends. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, and i am so pleased to see that Pongo and Shadow and Rolo have also given you a warm and friendly welcome. They all have great characters, as you will discover.

As i have recently found out from Pongo (or does he now want to be referred to as Pungo :D the world we live is tremendously huge (even bigger than his garden i think!) According to my dad, America is very, very, very, very, large and is full of lots of exciting places to walk and run, climb and even swim. Sadly i don't think it is a place i will ever visit on these vacations you talk about, but it is still a lot of fun to learn about where my friends live. Dad shows me pictures every day on this tappy box of his, and i can only marvel at the sights my eyes see. I won't be missing out though as i am very quickly learning to appreciate what we have, and i have to say i can't wait to explore our UK.

So you also like the squeaky toys as well. Aren't they fun. They don't last long with me though Bella as i am keen to get to the source of the noise, and then suddenly it stops. I think i do something that silences the squeak, and so i just play with the toy until there is not much left to play with (i have a tendency to be quite strong with my toys at the moment. Dad was concerned for a while but mum assured him i am simply playing.)

Even though i am yet to visit a beach i know i am going to love it when we meet. The ground can either be full of little stones (i have some of these in the front of our house so it is like having my own very tiny beach.) or it can be very soft with something called sand (i think the photo of Willow shows her having been playing in sand.) Alongside these stones or sandy areas is lots and lots of water which is referred to as the sea, and it looks amazing to be able to run through it and get very wet, and then even more wet. I think the photo of Shadow will show you just how much fun it is. In the meantime though, i am looking forward to visiting larger areas of green fields and parks, and woodlands where i will have much more fun with trees, of all sizes. I like the sound of your house made from trees but don't the branches and leaves get in the way? (Eh dad? Speak up, you are mumbling just a little :) Oh i see. There is a process involved in turning trees into the logs that create the wooden house. Thank you.) Tell me Bella, what happens to the birds and animals that live in the trees. Do they come and live with you in your house now that your home is made from their home? (What now dad? Did i say something funny?)

By the way, your little secret of sneaking off with goat poo and duck poo is a secret that will remain with your friends here. I will never be able to understand the fascination with such stuff though to be honest as i haven't shown such interest in poo, which i think is a huge relief to mum and dad. My own disappears immediately - mum and dad STEAL it and i never see it again. I can only assume they have very good reasons.

Right, i am going to have a little snooze whilst dad takes his coffee into our little gazebo. He had quite a busy day yesterday building a....what did he call it.....an Ottoman Bed. I don't go upstairs into the parental chambers anymore but i think it is the large soft thing mum and dad sleep in. I heard lots of noise though, and a few Grrrrrrrs, and every now and again dad would come down to play with me or give me a cuddle. Eventually he was finished and he looked rather drained. He still looks quite tired, bless him.

Bella, have a fantastic day when you wake up. Enjoy your trip to see Doctor Nancy, and i look forward to catching up with you whenever i can. I always try my best to reply to my friends quickly, but it isn't always easy to do so.

Keep safe, and play, play, play.

    Your friend Bud.x

According to my dad, who nearly spat out his coffee when you hinted that i could be called BOD - Bod apparently was the name of a little bald boy in a children's cartoon many moons ago. Dad actually remembers the tune and likes to play a silly game with mum at times by trying to get her to join in with him. They can be so very silly at times.

Dad and me play the wrestle game, and it is great fun where i get to show my strength and dad does his best to be stronger than me. It is getting more difficult for him though the bigger i get. :)

    Hi there Rolo,

Really great to hear from you. It has been a while but we can't control the events in our lives can we so no need to worry if you can't drop by very often.

Wow, you met a heron. That is so cool. A pity it didn't want to stop and play though. Why is it all other creatures run or fly away instead of staying and playing? Is it only us dogs that like to play together?

I didn't like hearing that this nasty man was horrid to your mum just because you wanted to say hello to him. Unfortunately though, like you have said, not everyone wants to pay us attention. I can't think why but that is their loss (according to dad.) I am extremely excitable around any person, and dad has to try and get my attention so that i don't pull him towards strangers we may pass when out. He knows i only want to say "Hello," or "Lets play," or "Got any food?" but i can be so forceful and energetic in my nature that it could give the wrong impression to those who do not know me.

You eat socks??? Yuck!!! I sometimes lick socks but they don't excite me very much as a food option (and i can get excited by a lot of things that could be potential food.)

Rolo, as always a great pleasure chatting with you. Look after yourself and your mum, and enjoy all the fun things you do.

    Bye for now.

    Bud
