I noticed this on Axel 4 days ago. And it went away mostly after 3 days. So I figured bug bite. He only had the one that I saw. Now I went to check on it and I noticed he has a bunch more... 4 or so that I can see. Anyone seen this on their pups before ?

I think I would run it past the vet just to check that it's nothing. Juno had something similar late last summer which was a skin infection treated with anti bionics and bathing in special shampoo. Hope whatever it is clears quickly

Just came from the vet. The vet is treating it as if it's an allergic reaction to a bug bite such as ants. But said if it doesn't improve then we will treat for ring worm. But he said ring worm in dogs is very rare

Was a good call to go to the vet. But I would say that ring worm in young dogs is pretty common. What Axel has doesn't look like the ringworm I've seen though, with that red edge. I'm sure that you and the vet will get to the bottom of it! :)

I just saw him get bit by an ant outside!! So I think those are the culprit. Now to try and get rid of them

Sounds as if you may have found the cause. Nasty, bite ants.

Oh, I thought the OP drew the red circle so we could see the spot. No? I hope it is just a bug bite and you don't have to treat anything.

Nasty ant bites! My Ella had ringworm at 11months and the vet said they were quite surprised as they said you only tend to see it in very young puppies. Her ringworm looked quite different Axel as apparently it makes the hair very brittle so when they scratch it all just rubs off. Here was Ella.

Oh how interesting! So far no brittle hair yet. I hope Ella is all better :)

Ooh, that looks horrid (both the ringworm on Ella and the bite on Axel).

Oh my gosh! But don't I see another bite over to the right on the photo and lower down? There's no red circle on it. Very weird.

Ouch, poor pup! Hope you are able to get it cleared up quickly! Good luck with the ants. I use diatomaceous earth on them here - works pretty good and it won't hurt the pup if he eats it o_O

Yes that was one too :( That one started out the same, with the bright red circle around it but then it faded after about two to three days and it was just the dot left. This new one is fading already as well. The other ones are on his legs so too hard to see but I think they are fading too. He doesn't seem bothered by them at all. No licking or chewing at them. But they looked worrisome so I brought him to the vet just incase:eek:
