    Hello everyone!

Hope you and your families are safe throughout these tough moments.

2 weeks ago, my wife and I recently adopted a 3-year-old golden Labrador named Burger!
Burger is a well behaved Lab, with good table manners.

We've been lurking the forum for quite some time, looking for answers for several questions we've had and you guys have been pretty helpful! Thank you for that.

Burger is our first dog, so we're sometimes a bit worries that we might be doing something wrong.

    - Burger lunges A LOT at other dogs - which might sometimes be a hassle since he's a big dog!
    - Burger is a big dog - last owner told us he weights ~ 43Kgs and he had to lose around 5 to 6 kilos.

I had a quick concern regarding his paws, found some crackling in some of them + he licks them A LOT throughout the days.
With the current quarantine, it is hard to take him to the vet. I was wondering if you guys recommend using some paw wax?

I leave you with some pictures of our little baby boy.

Hi Cyril, welcome to the forum! Congratulations on bringing home Burger :)

You might have a little more success catching the attention of members who can answer your questions if you start a new thread with the subject of the question clearly in the title.

Good luck and please keep us updated on Burger's progress, he's gorgeous!

    Hi Cyril
Well done for taking on a rescue dog.
Do a bit of research on Malassezia which is a fungus found on animals. An overgrowth could be the cause of Burger’s itchy feet. You can get a foot wash and medication to treat. At the same time consider what he is being fed. Get him on the best quality kibble you can afford or consider switching to raw. The quantities on the kibble bags are usually much more than he will need. Keep treats to a minimum and use healthy things like veg(carrots usually popular and help with keeping mouth fresh)
The kindest thing you could do for him as he settles in to his lovely new home is to get his weight down. He will have far more happy years with you at an ideal weight.
It sounds like he will need some extra training on lead walking but I’ll leave that to someone else to help with.
    All the best.

    Hi Cyril and Burger.

Our Billy lunges at other dogs while out but we know it's down to his anxiety as he was kept locked up by his previous owners and not socialised or lead trained at all. He just wants to say hello and be friendly but it worries other owners a lot.

We use a good fitting comfortable harness with a lead clip at the front, it doesn't address the problem that Billy has (that's gonna take a long time and a lot of patience), but will make it a lot easier to control the lunges while you get to the root of the issue.
