After losing our tent last month in high winds and torrential rain after only two nights, we returned a week ago with our new tent. We have had a fabulous week. Initially Red was blown away by the environment and it took her a couple of days to calm down. There were a few things that caused me angst with her - she ignored a few recalls (arghh - my bugbear), she pulled like a steam train a few times and she wanted to greet most dogs we met on walks with too much enthusiasm so I know there's lots to work on. She was brilliant in the tent. We ate out every day in cafés, restaurants and pubs and she just lay down by Sky's side. We travelled to lots of places and so many people stopped to say lovely things about her (and Sky). Sky is a really good teacher and it was interesting to watch Red take her cue from Sky a lot of the time. One night we had the most noisy thunderstorm right overhead - lots of lightening, thunder and heavy rain for most of the night. Not a sound - again, I think because Sky made no sound. Most mornings we managed a little lie in before Sky got out of her bed - cue for Red to let us know she was awake too. Red was happy to go in her crate each night and most nights just took herself off into it. Red discovered her bark during the week - happened when she heard another dog bark in a nearby tent but no big deal. Sky rarely barks. I used the long line a lot on beaches which isn't ideal but after one embarrassing incident with us both trying to round her up, we felt we couldn't risk letting her off lead too much. Anyway, very proud of my dogs and more than happy with how well Red adapted to living in a tent for a week . Will post some photos soon.
