Re: Can anyone help please ? A black half-sister of Obi's came back to the breeder under similar circumstances two weeks ago and so temptation has also recently crossed my path.... Resisting temptation is so dull!!!!!
Re: Can anyone help please ? I can resist anything - except temptation. (Wish I'd thought that up myself; sadly it's by Oscar Wilde )

Now, I could have given up all dreams of spaniels for a black Obi girl! (Granted, the distance and not having yet convinced OH another dog is a good idea are tiny barriers....but....).

Re: Can anyone help please ? Hi, I've just read this plea and I am looking for a dog up to the age of 6 as my black lab is now 11 (12 in January) and I would love another one to keep Rosie fit and healthy but also to ease the transition for when she goes. I was going to post my own plea which is why I have joined the forum as we live in The Netherlands and every lab rescue place has said that they'll only re-home in their area. I so desperately want to give a dog a 2nd chance and don't want to go to a breeder and having a pup would be unfair on Rosie. My husband is in the Army and we're not coming back for another 2 years. We live in a big house, with a garden and the woods are just next door. I understand the pet passport scheme, rabies vaccinations, worming etc. My parents live near Southampton and it doesn't take long to pop over on the Eurotunnel. I work very part-time from home. If anybody can help. I'd be grateful if you'd get back to me.
Re: Can anyone help please ? Hi Camilla and welcome to the forum. Have you tried the Black Retriever X Rescue? They are based in Wiltshire. They bring a lot of dogs over from Ireland. I don't know if they would allow a dog to be shipped abroad, but I suspect that they will consider each case on its merits. They have a busy facebook page too.
Re: Can anyone help please ? Thank you for their FB page. I've had a look but would like a black Labrador and not a mix. I've never done a forum before but do you think it's worth me posting my own message in the hope that a dog might be available through no fault of it's own before it's taken to a rescue centre? Your help would be much appreciated.
Re: Can anyone help please ? Have you tried the Labrador Trust ? They cover the whole of the UK and rehome some lovely Labs, might be worth contacting them ?
Re: Can anyone help please ? Hi KateinCornwall. Thank you for your post. I shall e-mail the Labrador trust in the morning and see if they have a black lab up for adoption but fear that they'll say the same as the other ones; that they won't rehome out of their area. I appreciate that checks need to be made but we could offer such a happy home for a dog that needs a 2nd chance.
Re: Can anyone help please ? Camilla, what about contacting breeders who might have an older dog to rehome?
