So the last week I noticed two growths on the contralateral sides of the back of his gums and today on right right side of his gum line. They are white little nodules and a quick search on google said they are probably Canine Oral Papillomas. The one on the right side of the back of his mouth has already subsided. The search result says there's no cure and it will go away on its own. Should I be worried? Really don't want to go to the vet for her to tell me the same thing. He's eating. No aversion to putting stuff in his mouth and chewing. So I don't think he's in any pain. Acting normal like a crazy pup.
Definitely take your dog to the vet. It can cause pain, swelling and bad breath. The recommendation is to consult your vet. Dogs mask pain very well so it's difficult to tell what level of discomfort or pain they are actually in. I would take my dog just to be on the safe side. Let us know how you get on. x
A lot of puppies get these warts, if that's what Sparky has. They are caught from other dogs and can be spread from Sparky to other dogs. When my dog caught them, my vet advised that he shouldn't have any contact with other dogs (except my own) until it cleared up. Otherwise they didn't bother my dog and cleared up on their own. So while it's truly probably nothing to worry about, definitely check in with your vet to make sure it's what you think it is and what to do, if anything. Always better safe than sorry.
Axel had one. He had it for a couple months and it never went away so the vet took it out when she neutered him. This was Axel's. I would still get it checked so it is properly diagnosed. I always worry about lumps
I'm also for a vet visit just to ensure that it is not serious/infectious etc etc. It is always better to be on the safe side particularly as it is difficult to know whether a dog is suffering discomfort as they are very stoic and mask it well.
Vet said it was indeed Canine Oral Papilloma. Nothing to be done, it should go away on its own. If not, surgery would be done. He's restricted from contact from other animals in the meantime, until two weeks after they disappear.
The one on the right side has already receded a little since yesterday. Hopefully nothing else pops up.
