What a story! The contact info control sounds draconian. And very weird. I’m pleased it worked out more sensibly. Blimey!

Edited to say I’ve never said “blimey” in my life before. Must be all this Brit influence. Soon I’ll also be saying “pants”! (Well, I do already, but it’s what we call trousers.)

It's a slippery slope now, leading to crikey, gosh, cripes, crumbs, cor, (double points for cor blimey), beastly and smashing. :)

I tend towards "oh goodness me!' ... but I'm not that often in polite company!

Oops, that’s true. I was on a work trip in London several years ago and had eaten one too many packets of salt n vinegar chips. It was my last day and I said to the group (of men) that I’d eaten so many chips that my pants were now too tight.

Only found out on my return what must’ve been going through their heads!

I got in trouble with the pants/trousers thing too and am very careful to only say trousers now. But the worst ribbing I ever got was when I worked in London in the early 90's and bought a new bum pack (very 'in' back then) but called it by the US name. My colleagues - all girls 16-22 years old - were practically rolling on the floor with laughter that in the US this accessory was named (for them) after a rude word for the female anatomy. :D

I wasn't even going to mention that but one which makes me sob with laughter is sp**cky. That's means something very different here in my part of the uk.:)

Is that like in Australia, we might say an attractive male is a spunk or say he's a bit spunky? I do believe there is a rather different meaning in the UK? o_O
