My goodness, what a time you have all had! So pleased Charlie is back in the bosom of his family, and here's wishing him a full and trouble-free recovery xx
Just seen this thread am so glad you have Charlie home and hope he recovers well. What a scary thing to happen xxx
Very relieved to have read your update, really hope Charlie makes a speedy recovery. Can't imagine what you all must have been going through.
Thanks everyone. Charlie is taking all his medication like a good boy and he had a good night and so did we! He is finding eating a bit awkward due to his swollen tongue so some of the food drops out of his mouth so we are soaking small portions of his kibble to help, so 4/5 small meals per day with a mashed up sardine to cheer him up He is pretty tired so has spent a large proportion of the day on the sofa sleeping but he does need to rest in order to heal. He is still sometimes coughing a bit after eating but that's only to be expected with a hole in the back of his throat. Otherwise he is doing well and so glad to be home I laughed to myself today thinking about when we picked him up last night how he did the rounds in the waiting room distributing kisses to customers and staff whether they wanted them or not x
Who doesn't want kisses from a gorgeous Lab? He had to kiss everyone so nobody had their feelings hurt
Helen,he has been so incredibly lucky ,heavens above if it had hit his jugular,it doesn't bear thinking about.I know you will watch him like a hawk, your vet sounds amazing,he is in good hands all round .I really hope that he continues to recover well and there is no more evidence of stick debris I. The weeks to come x
Bless that boy , our dogs are such stoical characters , kisses even when they are poorly . What a lucky boy he is Helen and even more so because he landed with you and your family x
Thank you everyone. Charlie went to the vet for a checkup yesterday, the vet was thrilled at how well he is doing Charlie is pretty chuffed too and made sure he let her know with a face lick, the receptionist was not left out either She is quite worried about the possibility of the splinters causing an abscess so he is on another 2 weeks of medication. He has to go back in 2 weeks for another checkup and might well be prescribed more ABs etc. He is back out for walks and thoroughly enjoying being off lead, not phased at all x I should have named him LUCKY x
Just catching up with this now, I think this is the fastest I have ever read through a thread! What an awful ordeal you have all had!! So glad Charlie is on the mend. I'm sure you will all need time to recover from the stress of it all. Sending you hugs and well wishes and very gentle pats to dear Charlie.
