Re: Charlie is poorly How's Charlie helen? It's probably a bit late now but if he kept last nights food down and the diarrhea has stopped, or at least he's stopped going, I'd keep him on rice and chicken today then tomorrow give him a third of his usual kibble ration, two thirds the next day, full ration the third day. That's the usual routine after starving for 24 hours anyway. Hope he's feeling better Jen
Re: Charlie is poorly Thanks everyone. Charlie kept last nights small portion of chicken and rice down He went for a 45 minute walk today but he was pretty lethargic and not very interested. He kept down a small chicken and rice breakfast and is drinking. Sorry got to talk about poo now, he got up at 3.00 am to go outside, his poo today is runny but with some firm bits too, I assume this is a good sign :-\ I am going to keep him on chicken and rice today and do as you said Jen, thank you. He has perked up a little and is currently holding orange squeaky snake Not a patch on what some of you are going through with your dogs but a worry all the same xx
Re: Charlie is poorly Have you got the pro kolin Helen? If he's stil loose I'd use it for 3 days I think it 5ml twice a day. If he's not improved though after 24hrs using pro kolin I'd go to the vet. Having said that you know how neurotic i am about upset stomachs Jen
Re: Charlie is poorly Jen, I am hoping the Pro Kolin is going to come today and I will give it to him straight away and hope that does the trick. Thanks.
Re: Charlie is poorly ach, poor charlie! i do hope he's on the mend quickly... we do worry about our furbabies, don't we?! i'm also in agreement on keeping him off food of any kind for a full day.... let his tummy work out whatever's wrong, but keep lots of fresh cold water out to rehydrate him. sending well wishes!
Re: Charlie is poorly Poor old Charlie, and poor you. Really hope he is back to top form tomorrow. xx
Re: Charlie is poorly In the absence of Pro kolin (hope it has come) would a probiotic natural yoghurt be helpful?
Re: Charlie is poorly A little update. Charlie has kept 3 small meals of steamed chicken and rice down today, drinking is fine, weeing fine. Pooing still runny but he is OK in himself. Pro Kolin came and I gave him 5ml, wow he lapped it up so really hope that helps his tummy . Hattie knows something is wrong with him as he keeps getting into bed with her and they were all snuggled up all cosy today - ahh bless I hope he is nearly through this poor boy Thanks, xxx
Re: Charlie is poorly Aw dear, the poor boy sounds like he is picking up a little though. Good old Hattie looking after him too. Hopefully the Pro kolin will do its job.
Re: Charlie is poorly It's a good sign he is keeping food down, surely, hopefully he is on the up now. Hugs from us.
Re: Charlie is poorly We'll done nurse, sounds like he's turned the corner. I hope so And bless lovely Hattie for giving him a cuddle x
Re: Charlie is poorly Charlie is still keeping his chicken/rice down. His poo is still a bit runny but he is not going as often now. Should I slowly reintroduce his kibble tomorrow? He has had 4 doses of Pro Kolin. Thanks xx
Re: Charlie is poorly I don't know about anybody else but I would stick to the chicken and rice, at least for brekkie. Sounding good though
Re: Charlie is poorly i saw a different vet on monday was told to keep him on chicken and rice for 5 days, when i saw my normal vet wednesday, she said no just 2 days on chicken and rice, to put him on normal food after 2 days,.....he as been fine today
Re: Charlie is poorly Thank you ladies, chicken and rice now cooking for tomorrow . Lynne, thank you so glad Jasper is OK
Re: Charlie is poorly He's had a right upset Helen, luckily Hattie hasn't licked anything up too.hope,he's further on today and seeming much better. Bfn x
