Re: Charlie is poorly - Part 2

Charlie is better, thank goodness after 4 x 5ml of Pro Kolin which did the trick BUT now he hasn't been for a poo for 2 days, any ideas? He also only went for 1 wee yesterday and seems reluctant to go outside. Not sure what is going on, he is very happy in himself and has been for walks. Thank you x

My Charlie definitely had a poo free period after his tummy upset - not for long, about a day. He did a bit of a hard poo the day after, then was a bit runny again, then back to normal.

Maybe less food, plus the pro kolin, just binds things up a bit?

Dont worry Helen, the procolin is like kaolin , it does make them a bit constipated but he will be fine I`m sure xx

On the constipation topic - I thought Lills was a bit bunged up - going at least once a day, but a bit hard for my liking. I blamed it on the large bone she had last weekend.
I chopped up a carrot and added it to her bowl of food. It was amazing how much is slowed down the "food inhalation process" as she was concentrating on crunching on the carrots. ::)
I think it aided the stool issue a bit but I don't think it was magic.
I'm pretty sure it will right itself too x

Funny you mentioning carrots Jac , I wondered if they help to boost the immune system in dogs ? Sam has had canine acne since he was about 4 month old , only slightly and it cant easily be seen as its under his chin . I noticed that when he was having carrots added to his food , it would disppear , and when he wasnt having carrots, it came back , maybe coincidence but odd :)

    Hmm...that makes sense Kate.
I think the whole don't eat chocolate and wash your face more regularly business for acne is a bit of an old wives tale (and untrue - phew!)
But I always recommend a generally healthy diet, plenty of vitamins from fruit and veg - rich in anti-oxidants. And there is good evidence that diet DOES influence the severity of acne.

Carrots are very rich in Vitamin A and we use this to treat acne in a topical form (e.g. Retin A cream, Differin cream)...

But the Vitamin C is also beneficial...

Carrots/Vitamin A therefore is excellent not only for acne and wrinkles but also good for the anal glands ;D ;D

Don't think its worked well for me :(

And smokers are always more wrinkled - the gunk in cigarettes destroys the body's ability to repair collagen properly
(I am full of useless -ish information ;) )
