David and I have just got back from a 2 1/2 hour walk with Hattie & Charlie, on our way out we went into the woods I did a couple of ball launches with the chucker, Charlie got excited leaping around and kept his focus on me and he retrieved it, not too keen to bring it back but with a little encouragement and a piece of sausage he did The second one he ran out to it but ran off with it so we left it at that for today. So lovely to see him showing a little control and to see him retrieve in the woods was just spectacular for us Pretty pleased and partial success I think. xxxx
Re: Charlie RETRIEVES!!! Brilliant well done Charlie. ;D I would say it's definitely success. Now all you need to do is build on it. Ok I know that's easier said than done. Ralph is not an enthusiastic retriever. No reason he should be he looks like an Alsatian collie cross. :. To get him revved up to retrieve I use the ball thrower but to begin with I just do shortish ones and make them bounce so it's more exciting. I then gradually make them longer with a short one every so often. Basically it's to make it easy to begin with so he doesn't get bored or distracted. Don't know if that's any help you probably already do something similar just thought I'd mention it incase.
Re: Charlie RETRIEVES!!! Charlie, you continue to surprise us! So glad to hear you were both out on a walk together with BOTH your dogs and you have a good news story to share with us from it. It's all down to your dedication and training, Helen, you have every right to be pleased and proud!
Re: Charlie RETRIEVES!!! Good on you Charlie......now Hattie will be miffed she has to share the ball chucker ;D
