I am thrilled to tell you that Charlie had a whole 10 minutes OFF LEAD today and he did NOT run away, so we quit while we were ahead. If Charlie starts getting a little ahead a simple ah ah gets him back trotting beside David Whilst he was still on his long training line he did a great recall between us and then decided to go for an 'adventure' of about 100 meters in the rape seed but a whistle recall and within 60 seconds he came back as we were legging it in the opposite direction, he got a whole sausage. I know that wasn't great but to us it is magnificant progress Could all our training actually be paying off! xx

Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Woot woot!! *fist pump* Good to stop on a high note!! So glad to hear this, Helen!!
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD So very happy for you helen, well done to all of you , a worthy sausage winner for sure ;D
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Excellent, well done Charlie and you It's great when a plan comes together ;D ;D
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD I am so very chuffed for you! I have just a little experience but enough to appreciate the HUGE effort you have put into Charlie!
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Well done Helen! Delighted to hear this, a big step forward for Charlie. I'm sure you don't need reminding but take it steady though, just short periods off lead to start with. Good luck next time
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Thank you everyone and don't worry Pippa we are taking it extremely slowly and judging his behaviour and the environment before we do let him off and only adding a few minutes on each time if it's appropriate. If he does leg it, which is a big possibility he will go back on his training line and we will take a step back in our training. It was lovely to see him being a 'real dog' xx
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD I know I commented earlier but just wanted to say your happiness shines through your posts Helen I wish you all the luck in the world building up the time he can be off-lead.

[/quote] Thanks so much Barbara, it's so lovely to feel positive about Charlie, we accept that he's never going to be perfect and never leg it, but I really don't believe anyones dogs are perfect and all still have their moments. I will probably be crying tomorrow as he heads off into the next County : xx
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD I am SO pleased for you. You have worked so long and so hard at this you deserve it. Tina
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Well done Charlie. You've made your mum proud of you. Keep up the good work.
