Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Great news, lovely for all of you. Maybe he might leg it off in the future, but today he didn't which is fantastic progress.

Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD [quote author=Stacia link=topic=6219.msg81743#msg81743 date=1401046096] Great news, lovely for all of you. Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Yay! Fantastic news, it sounds like you're really making progress! Just keep the off lead sessions short and sweet for now and see how he goes. Always end on a high, or end the session if you think he's about to run off. Hard work does pay off
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD A tiny little update, Charlie has had 10 ish minutes every day off lead and has been great. David has found a narrow lane alongside the wheat crops and Charlie trots so closely behind David his nose is banging the back of his knee. On a different part of the walk Charlie did a point and flushed a Pheasant, David recalled him and Charlie returned straight away and didn't chase the Pheasant . A lucky escape yesterday, just as David had popped him back on lead just across a field were he thinks several Hare, Charlie was very excited to see them, so not sure he would have had success on that occasion, but I think that would have been too tempting even for the best trained dogs We are taking it slowly and cautiously, we've waited this long Thanks xx
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Oh MY!!!!! That is an amazing result Helen!!! I am so pleased for you and David!!! And for Charlie too, if he is slowly learning how to behave off lead… Imagine - our Charlie flushing a pheasant - and then NOT chasing it into the next county!!! ;D Just fantastic. But yes - the hare might have been a step too far..
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Oh Helen , I am very pleased for you, for all of you , this is great news ;D ;D
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD So great to hear this, Helen! You may have just turned the corner here...daring to hope with you! Slow and steady wins the race! You will always have to keep him carefully managed off lead but I have a feeling most of us have to say the same, so you are not alone. Your successes give me hope with Simba, to be sure!
Re: Charlie went OFF LEAD Thanks everyone we are really proud of Charlie Karen, once upon a time Charlie would have been in the next county in the blink of an eyelid, but there's still that potential Lisa, Simba is much better off lead than Charlie so I think there is much more success for you to come, just stick at it x
