Re: Charlie's First Group Walk Helen I missed your updates over the weekend! Go Charlie - I feel really proud of him and I only know him via the forum, so you must be BURSTING with pride!!!!!
Re: Charlie's First Group Walk Well I haven't updated this for a while, but Charlie's weekly walks have been going brilliantly, he walked with two new dogs a few weeks ago which were Dylan an absconding chocolate Labrador and Charlie a mad Springer Spaniel Today which is week 9 he walked with the group next door and he went OFF LEAD with them in the woods, all milling around and Charlie really enjoyed it, he went for a leg stretch came bombing down the hill where Abe and Sesk were waiting to play but Charlie ran between them to return to David so really pleased David is away in NY next week and Tim is going to walk Charlie for me which will be nice for Charlie to be with his buddies These group walks have helped Charlie so much, his confidence has grown and he has some friends now which is just lovely xxx
Re: Charlie's First Group Walk Really fantastic How lovely of your neighbours/friends to do these walks. I'm sure they enjoy it too.
Re: Charlie's First Group Walk Fantastic Helen. I'm so pleased for you and David Charlie is doing brilliant. You see I've always said he was a 'real' dog. It very good of Tim to take Charlie for a walk while David is away. I think that will also have a positive effect on Charlie and help his confidence. Long may it continue and I'm sure it will. ;D

I'm sure they enjoy it too.
We are so thrilled. Our neighbours are lovely and David is enjoying being taken to some lovely new locations that we didn't know about
It very good of Tim to take Charlie for a walk while David is away. Long may it continue and I'm sure it will. ;D
I am so thankful to Tim and he is enjoying walking Charlie and in return he is using our scafolding for a job and I have offered to babysit so everyone is happy His working Labs are kept separate from the family which I find odd. When he returned with Charlie the other day, just as I opened the door there was Tim looking into Charlie's eyes, rubbing his face chatting to him and he gave him a kiss - aww He said he is just such a lovely boy and he is happy to walk him anytime David has to travel xx
Re: Charlie's First Group Walk Looks like Tim is a big softy on the quiet. ;D. I'm really glad it's going so well and of course he thinks Charlie is a lovely boy. ;D It's quite common for working dogs to be kept separate. They aren't kept as pets and one way of thinking is if their only interaction with their handler is training or working they are more likely to do what is asked of them and less likely to pick up bad habits. I think it's strange as well when people keep their working dogs kennelled but have a pet dog indoors. ???
Re: Charlie's First Group Walk What fantastic progress... Off lead with other dogs? Bet you are so very, very proud
Just thought I would do a little update. David went with our neighbours last Sunday and there was a bit of a break through. David let Charlie off lead, he did his usual up the track full pelt run and then back to David for Primula then off again, back to David and then for 10 WHOLE MINUTES he milled around with the other 3 dogs and even played a little Charlie NEVER does this as he really isn't interested in dogs apart from Hattie, David was so pleased. Now I'm off to get 3 more dogs xx
Wow Helen Charlie has done so well in such a short space of time. He's almost unrecognisable to how he used to be legging off across the field only interested in hunting. It's obviously been really good for him walking with other dogs and he sounds like he's showing much more interest in David as well as interacting with the dogs or at least David + primula . You must both be so pleased well done.
This morning Hattie, Thomas and I joined the group walk with our neighbours, so off to the woods we headed with 3 children, 4 adults and 5 dogs I have to say I was so very happy to see Charlie off lead with a group of dogs, he didn't once run off and best of all he checked back a lot with everyone individually looking straight into their eyes. He milled around and got lots of hugs and praise from everyone Not once did we have to recall him as he is choosing to be with us - brings a tear to my eye xx
I've always said it and Charlie, good boy that he is, is proving me right. Charlie is a 'normal dog' he just needed to find his way. ☺️ Proud of you all.
Helen, every time I read these positive posts from you it makes me so very happy Good boy Charlie, and well done you!
