Re: Charlie's limp
I am doing my best to work this afternoon...it's a long afternoon.... The vet nurse just called and said he is awake, and fine, and very happy to have a big bowl of food. She said he was surprisingly energetic and lively for a dog who has just woken up from a GA. I felt like saying "think about it - you should meet him when he hasn't just woken up from a GA...." :
Excellent news, that's a relief. Everything crossed for a positive outcome. Hattie & Charlie send licks to Choc Charlie and a big cuddle from me { } x
Re: Charlie's limp Thats great - waiting with baited breath for your results. Somehow feel like an expectant granny (or equivalent).
Re: Charlie's limp Try not to worry if the xrays just tell you what it isn't, rather than what it is. Negative results are very helpful in these cases! Good luck, hope you hear soon.
Re: Charlie's limp THE RESULTS SO relieved - Charlie has the best chocolate labrador hips the orthopedic surgeon has ever seen (he might say that to all the girl owners though - it was definitely the way to my heart )) and the rest of his joints are perfect too. The chap said they were "amazing" - absolutely clean and smooth. So that's a huge weight off my mind, and finally an end to the worry about elbow, hip, knee dysplasia or anything like that. Shoulders were also perfect. (As an aside, so were his teeth). The relief, I can't explain it. I think I'll go to Bristol, find the breeder, and give her a big kiss and a huge box of chocolates. ;D ;D ;D So now going back to the reason this all started - the limp on his back leg. So the consensus of 2 vets and the orthopedic chap is Charlie has a joint sprain or soft tissue damage. He is being referred to a place called Greyfriers, a hydrotherapy place, for a 10 session programme, which they will develop for him along with the vet, plus a programme of gradually increasing lead exercise which the vet will send me tomorrow. But no off lead work at all until he is completely better. Charlie has had a bowl of kibble, with an extra medicinal sardine, a tummy rub, and is now snoozing in his tv bed. A glass of wine for me now, I think, even though it's not yet 7pm and I've all the work to do that I was only pretending to do all day. : Thank you for your support. It was amazing. I was very grateful to have it.
Re: Charlie's limp I've been off for a couple of days so have only just read this thread. It was wonderful to get to the happy ending; I'm sure Charlie will enjoy the hydrotherapy. What a relief! Alice
