He pulled the radiator off the wall he's an absolute case isn't he? Sounds like he had a really good session there and whilst I guess the 4 sessions were quite short ,it's great he's fit enough to have them extended straight away. The whole day must have been stimulation overload for him,bet you had a happy, tired doggie when you got him home x
It was such a Charlie thing to do. I asked him to walk forward off the analysis pad by asking him for a hand touch. He thought "WHAT? A HAND TOUCH! WE'RE TRAINING! YIPPEE!". And took the biggest Tigger bounce in the world to hurl himself at my hand, was going so fast he couldn't stop and crashed into the radiator that was behind my hand, knocking it off the wall. Nothing if not enthusiastic, Charlie.....
We went back today for another hydro session. He is so much fitter this time than last, it had pretty much no impact on him (he is still on 4 x 30 secs on quite a low speed as it's built up gradually), but he enjoyed it all the same. It's a trip out, a new place, new people, water and toys. They want me to take him 3 times a week so we build up the exercise time quicker, but that' tricky for me as it's an hour each way, plus the session, shower and drying. All in about 3 hours. There are that many work days I can do that. We also went to the duck pond, which he enjoyed as we haven't been for a while. Parking in Wimbledon right now is not funny....
Oh I've thought about you this week...another year I'd say it is the perfect fortnight to go to Cornwall! That's a tricky amount of time to manage ....what do you think? Is getting someone to drive you so you could work in the car an option?Lots of people here who work in Abudhabi do that, not ideal but an opportunity to grab a bit of time back and still make your appointments x
I've never stayed in Wimbledon for the whole fortnight before. We've always gone to Cornwall. But combination of work and Charlie this year made it impossible to leave. I'm sort of office based right now so it's getting away from the office that's the problem. Which is a complete and utter pain and adds commuting time into the city into the horrific mix. We are managing Charlie by us both working long half days. Well, I'll just have to juggle a bit more.....maybe OH can do one run out to hydro....I don't like him to do it because he lets Charlie pull on his lead and hydro is a key lead pulling place. Perhaps he'll just have to go on his harness.
We trusted Charlie to be off lead on the patio tonight....only for a bit, while he helped with the steak bbqsteak by julieandcharlie julieandcharlie, on Flickr And I was please to see that he is starting to tuck his leg under him in a sit and a down (this will look awkward to people with healthy dogs, but it's actually really pretty good for 7.5 weeks post cruciate surgery). bbqsit by julieandcharlie julieandcharlie, on Flickr
We also went to the park tonight....I've never been to the park during Wimbledon fortnight before. There were no off lead dogs. Because there wasn't any room for offlead dogs. The entire place was a campsite... (Not my pic, too busy concentrating on Charlie - it's from SWlondoner.co.uk)
He's looking great, Julie! And no off lead dogs sounds perfect, to avoid unwanted encounters! And look at all the ear-washing opportunities to be had!!
Hydro day - very busy. {first pic a vid} hydro33 by julieandcharlie julieandcharlie, on Flickr I'm still not that thrilled with the shower mum: hydro31 by julieandcharlie julieandcharlie, on Flickr This is worth chicken you know, that jet of water is torture! Charlie had a visitor tonight. His first visitor for nearly 3 months. He was very, very, happy. The visitor is was my best friend, who he loves very much. He jumped around a bit (carefully planned for in a gated small area, on a non slip floor) but my friend came armed with treats and gave him one whenever he wasn't jumping around. Then he settled down to lick her ears, hands, feet and every bare inch of her for 3 hours.... visitor2 by julieandcharlie julieandcharlie, on Flickr
Ah bless him, like you say small steps but life is opening up a bit for him...I missed the pics of you i missed the pics of you all enjoying an eve in the garden,he looks great x
