    Hey all

Since 12pm today my boy has been "choking" and gagging with no vomiting on and off maybe once of twice every hour...
It stopped for a while now he was sleeping and woke up suddenly gasping for air for a few seconds... I called the vet and told me maybe something irritated his throat but I am skeptical. I have never experienced or seen this. Any thoughts?

Did he swallow something and it's stuck?

    Thanks

Kennel cough can cause gagging due to throat irritation....

Have a look inside his mouth including feeling along the roof of his mouth - at times things can get wedged across the roof of the mouth.

kennel cough is horrible, and when Benson had kennel cough it was an awful gagging choking sound, a sort of dry retching. Worse after any exertion. We gave him a dessertspoon of our own warmed honey which seemed to help :)
