Going for the table tree idea this year. We have a small live tree we'll bring in the house on Christmas Eve and take it down right after Christmas. Libby is already banned from the living room (we don't use our living room much - mainly just during the holiday) so hopefully the tree won't be around long enough for her to get any ideas.
It is Jessie's first Christmas too, I think it will be fine. We have had a tree every year and it has survived various babies, toddlers, kitten, adult cat (who also likes to drink the water and hurl herself at the tree). A bit of vigilance the first couple of days and the novelty wears off. A few of our glass baubles have taken a tumble over the years, but could just as easily have been me dropping them after a few mulled wines!!
Bahaha! I did not read all the way down the posts and just posted the same question!!! I will now read all of these responses and see if I can delete my duplicate inquiry. Deb
Well we set up our tree last night and other Christmas decorations. Axel is 11 months old so I had my reservations. He did try to steal santa off to his bed and gave him a few nibbles. So we locked him up while we set everything up then let him out when it was all done. Took a video of him coming out of the bedroom to catch his reaction. He just gave everything a good sniff. Looked delighted to see the bright tree, sniffed it and ran to me. We didn't hang bulbs on the bottom part just in case ....
Eric was 6 months old last Xmas. We put the empty tree up and he tried chewing it repeatedly! We got the lights on but no decs and I took it down Boxing day as I'd had enough hahaha This Year I'm just going to put it all up. His 'leave it' is stronger (when he wants it to be) and he's not as destructive as he was last year so fingers crossed......
