I don't think you should worry too much. Does she share her toys with other dogs? if not, then I don't think there is a risk - she herself will be immune from that particular strain of it once she has recovered, and anyway I don't think the virus can live too long on toys outside the warmth of a host's system. Others might know better than me, though....there will be more expert advice along soon I'm sure! Bad luck at picking up the kennel cough. It is easy to do, and I know it is heart-breaking listening to them retch retch retch. Poor pup....but she will recover. I found that a little bit of runny honey on the back of a spoon was good, I let Pongo lick it off a tiny bit at a time and I am sure it soothed his throat. (And he thought it was delicious.) And welcome to the forum from me and my big yellow boy Pongo...what is your pup's name?
Err....never even thought about that. Mind you, Lilly isn't a big toy player. I just wiped any mucous/vomit with dilute antiseptic.
Sorry to hear about the kennel cough. I wash their toys periodically anyway - hard ones in the dishwasher, soft toys in the washing machine. Welcome to you from Mags, Tatze and Mollie from Manchester UK Tatze is my pet dog, a black Lab and she's four years old. Tatze means 'paw' in German. Mollie is my fourth Guide Dog puppy, a black Lab who is six months old. ..
I love putting tennis balls in the washing machine they really make me laugh. I'm simple soul we really know how to make our own entertainment in Leicestershire
Welcome Kyla from Hattie 9 years and rescue boy Charlie 6 years. So sorry to hear your puppy has had kennel cough, what a rough start I would definitely wash all her toys and bedding just to be on the safe side. Hope she gets better soon. xx
