Have aways given Tara a multiworm treatment, every three months, from Vet, as part of her pre-pay plan. Last visit, I was informed that locally is a low risk area, and the treatment she had been given was sufficient. If reports of lungworm increased, she could go onto a monthly treatment. I know her treatment has been labelled as helping to cut the risks of lungworm, but I did not know there was a more regular treatment.
Is everyone happy with a three month treatment, or would you recommend going to the monthly treatment.

I understand that if lungworm is in the district you need to worm monthly with Millbemax wormer. I would not increase from three monthly to once monthly unless lungworm arrived in your area.

Millbemax I believe is the only wormer licensed to treat lungworm. Though there is a spot on treatment.

I use Advocate, a spot-on treatment (from vet) which also covers lungworm.

Both Advocate and Milbemax have licences for lungworm. You can search online for the datasheets which will give you all the information you need about frequency of application. I use both (on different dogs!).

My vet, in France, had Juno on Milbemax monthly for 3 months as a puppy and then she went to 3 monthly treatments. Since moving back to the UK my vet here is using the same regimen. Milbemax is safe to be used monthly if veterinary advice is that the risk is higher, but with all medication you really should discuss with your vet who is aware of local conditions and your dog.

Hi folks, sorry for slow response. Tara is on Milbemax three monthly, under the vet plan. Just concerned that did not know about the monthly treatment, and worried she should be on it. We have lots of slugs and snails, and Tara is always grabbing at grass, where there may be eggs, as well as walks near water (and in it,if she can).

Hi @bouncer if you are worried about the quantity of slugs and snails around in your area, or the possibility of coming into contact with eggs, please have a chat with your vet to put your mind at rest that Tara isn't at any increased risk by being on a 3 monthly cycle.
