We lost our gorgeous Cooper in November, 2014. The loss was just awful and my sister and brother in law understood our pain. They have a friend who is an artist and after getting a photo from our son they asked him to paint Cooper. The creation of the painting took over a year, as the artist has Parkinson's disease and as his right hand is badly affected, he taught himself to paint left handed. The resulting painting was given to me on Christmas morning, 2015. I knew nothing about this wonderful gift. There were many tears from both myself and my daughter as the work has captured Cooper exactly, in a way that a photo cannot. It is Cooper without doubt! He brought back his cheeky, mischievous personality and I will treasure this painting for the rest of my days. We are waiting now for our new boy, Bailey. He is a chocolate Lab and will fly to us on 28th April. We are so looking forward to his arrival! There will never be another Cooper, but I love this pup already and cannot wait for the journey to begin. I hope the attached photo is not too big, as this is the first time I have uploaded to the forum. .
Parkinson's is so difficult. The artist is a lovely man-we met him a couple of months ago. He is a chairman of a charity dedicated to building a retreat for artists. The work he and his helpers do is amazing.
Fabulous portrait . I was just speaking to my daughter about your loss this lunchtime, as I remembered you saying how upset your grandson was when Cooper died. My little grandson was also distraught when our Will died last summer and today is the first time he asked to see Henry ( our new pup). Looking forward to news of Bailey
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. This forum is so friendly and the site itself is so informative. I did not know it existed during Coopers lifetime, but I know now and look forward to sharing Bailey with you all. Thanks again for the great welcome!
