I have somehow cracked barley's lack of interest in retrieving and playing ;D. I can't take all the credit though, puzzle has helped in teaching him how to play. Through trial and error we have found his favourite toy, a kong squeaky dumbbell, he just loves the texture of it and wants to hold it/shred it but thats not allowed. Todays training session consisted of starting off with some simple holds, can get around 5 sec so far but it is a work in progress, slow progress but we are getting there, then a few retrieves up and down the hall, on my terms not his. The trainer at dog club last week wondered what we had done to him as during the heelwork he had the "can't be bothered" attitude but when they toy came out, he was a different dog, wanting to play with the toy and having fun. No fetches, just running round holding the toy and some tuggies. It is so nice to see him excited for once.
Re: Cracked It! That's lovely Are you going to use a game with the toy as a reward for other behaviours?

[/quote] depends if he is in the right mood for a game or not, if he can't be bothered or is having an off day then there is a slim chance of getting him to play but on other days he is raring for a game. When it is windy he is always more alert and on his toes, he loves walkies in windy weather as he puts his nose in the wind and gets lots of exciting new smells
