I saw a green snake in the shop - looked very like Charming Charlie's snake only green. Bought it for Chocolate Charlie. Had to take it off him, we don't have a small house but it's not big enough for the excitement this snake causes!! Helen has really hit on something here in terms of super exciting toys...

Dummies are so, like, last week. All the hipster dogs have snakes now.

It's just my excuse to have Indian takeaway - "David, Charlie needs popodom for 'snake' retrieving" ;D ;D

Pippa better watch out, I could write a book on 'Alternative Training Methods for the Alternative Dog' ;D

My vet posted this on facebook with the message:

"Kydd and Kydd Vets shared Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty's photo.
OMG just had to share this photo. Thank goodness it's in Australia and not Wimbledon Common."

It's actually a very serious worry.... Some places we just don't go in summer and it's getting to be that time of year....

My previous dog, Nicolae, once met a very large Eastern Brown (one of the kinds you REALLY do not want to be bitten by) which he snuffled out from behind a log. It reared up above his head. I screamed some hybrid of 'COME' and 'OH MY ***** GOD' and he came running right away. He was fine but I immediately took him to the vet for a check in case he'd been bitten.

Last summer I saw a large Eastern Brown going under the back fence of a house in the next street (it had been sunbathing in the park behind their house and me and Obi walking past disturbed it). I went and told the owners, who had small kids and a dog. Hopefully they got the snake catcher to take it away. Gives you the heeby jeebies.

Too many things want to bite you in this country.....

Wouldn't be the snakes although they are vile and dangerous it would be the spiders....aggggghhhhh ,agggghhhh, aggghhhhh!my Australian friend just laughs at my phobic fear...knowing that I've never met anything more than a UK house spider in ' real life' she can tell me some absolutely horror stories about eight legged beasts that live amongst us....
