Ok, so I know that no two dogs are ever alike, and there are many factors that impact puppy behavior, but I am wondering what ages people remember their pup starting to calm down and be less crazy. My girl sits and stays amazing at 5 1/2 months, UNLESS there is another dog or person she wants to see. It is like she forgets everything about her training. She is a pup. It happens. Just curious as to what ages people started to see more consistent listening from their little beasts. I don't expect her to be a master at this age. Which is good because she isn't.
I honestly Don't think there is an age at which they become calmer and listen mire - so much depends upon individual circumstance. If you live and train in an area with lots of distractions I woukd expect a pup to be able to 'listen' well to requests which have been well trained and proofed where a dog that is not used to so many distractions is likely to struggle at an older age. It's all about context and experience.
Two years of age. Our last boy calmed down pretty much on his 2nd birthday. Fingers crossed for present incumbent...
Aspen is 11 months in 10 days and is still a jumping bean...interesting because other labs at his age weren't. I guess it just depends on the dog. Hoping for the day when he calms down a bit, but know that won't come for a long time, or possibly ever
Duggan will be two in May, has a bad leg and has just been downgraded from extremely hyper to just hyper.
