You're doing a brilliant job. The best thing for him is that he recovers fully and quickly from the op and your plan will achieve that. He's a confident, happy dog and he'll be just fine with the wonderful people at Greyfriars :) 6 to 8 weeks is not really that long either. Summer and fun times will be yours soon.

I think so. He has seen them all 3 times a week for the last 2 months, and stayed before and seemed fine - he seems to be great pals with everyone. Anyway, they play catch with him, and he can lick their ears (it seems to be a company policy that dogs are allowed to lick ears - quite right too), so I'm sure he'll be fine.

    Thanks so much for remembering!

Charlie is very upset at no breakfast (it is only a token 30g but it's the only time he sees his bowl, so it's important to him), and he is just about to find out his walk doesn't involve his usual 5 sea biscuits....

This is all probably for nothing, anyway, because if he needs an ear flush it will probably be done on Monday, not today, but instructions were to take him starved so thought I should.

    Well.

So the ear is now clean so can be inspected (apart from the ear drum which annoyingly has a bit of dirt left stuck across it). OH got to look down the scope thingy to have a look too, all clean and white looking.

Guess what? Nothing wrong with the ear (subject to the ear drum being seen). Zilch. Nothing.

The ear flap and upper ear has some residual inflammation, which should subside in the next week or so.

The specialist concluded that "it turns out that it's about the mildest form of ear problem there is".

Shall I tell you how much this has cost on antibioctics, oral and drops, and endless consultations over the months? No. Just believe me when I say it was a lot.

Hurrah for specialist vets who know what they are doing, that's all I'll say. Expensive but excellent value.

The surgeon is going to wash the last bit of dirt out on Monday (no need to do it today, when it can be done on Monday) and check the ear drum, then a yeast killing cleaner as maintainance should be all we need.

It all ended in good news as far as the ear goes anyway.

Thanks! What a fuss over this ear though!

Anyway...main thing is it looks to be sorted. The complex routine needs to just carry on for a few more days, and hopefully it's done.

Charlie would like you all to know that he is now below 28kgs (27.6) and would appreciate emergency food parcels via the Lambie / camel network ... ::)

Can we see a recent picture of him? I bet he looks slimmer than Amy now.

Good news indeed! I'll bet you spend the weekend cuddling with him!! :D

You've done a fabulous job, Julie, you should be very proud of yourself. You've set Charlie up for every success for the op, and he will have a great place to recover, and before you know it this will all be a distant memory.

Here's to you, well done!! ;D

Far the best way to do it, wish I could have done it with my Lab. You will be calm and so will Charlie. I was a nervous wreck!

This was really an answer to you said you felt guilty about Charlie going to rehab!
