It could have been Warfarin, so that he slowly bled to death internally, this could be found in slug bait.

Lauren I think you're right and it is confusing. Hopefully once the furore has died down they will manage to get some answers and we'll know what happened. If there was malicious intent I hope they catch whoever did it.

Well I think there was definitely malicious intent, but the question is who administered the poison, when, where and why.

So I went away and did a bit of googling after my post yesterday. Apparently food takes an average of 7-10 hours to pass through a dogs digestive system, depending on what they have eaten. So...the dog died 26hrs after leaving crufts with the autopsy performed shortly after where they discovered the food that contained the poison...in my opinion there's no way that food was ingested at crufts...

    Just sayin' ;)

The vet that examined him at home was quoted (in The Sun, no less ;) ) as saying that it was unlikely to have happened at Crufts. He has now stated that he never said that and is now saying he has no idea when it happened and will have to await the results of the toxicology report. As, I suppose, will the rest of us.

KC are also saying they haven't had any reports of other dogs falling ill.

Any update on this? I fear we will never learn what really happened. :-\

I think toxicology results are due back next week.

I'm still sticking to my theory outlined above ;)

Just saw an update on BBC news - the tox results are back and the result was two poisons banned in the EU, and the timeline apparently indicates the dog was poisoned in Belgium, therefore not at Crufts.

    Just as I said! ;)
