    Anyone watch the gundog day?

I enjoyed the HPRs most. I liked the Bracco Italiano and the German Longhaired Pointer in particular :D

I found the retrievers all a bit heavy in the main for my personal taste.

    Just watching it now.
I know nothing - absolutely nothing - but to my eyes the labrador was distinctly tubby! If Pongo looked like that he'd be on a diet.... am I just missing the point somewhere?

Watching the highlights now. Is there another program on during the day at all?

Not keen on the lab that made it to best in group. Just doesn't look right to me.

I think there's a live feed on youtube but the More4 coverage is a roundup each day.

I found the lab and the Goldie quite heavy as regards my personal preference. I think that's why I liked the HPRs best as there seems to be less divergence between show and working lines.

Again this year I didn't like the lab, loved the flattie though :)

I loved the labs in the Gamekeepers ring though.

I prefer show labradors, but that lab looked as if it had been sqaushed.

What on earth are they doing to dogs? All breeds, the red setters head looked too small for it's body.

The flattie certainly wasn't overly heavy but I'm afraid I've never liked their noses, I prefer a good stop. Having said that there's an absolutely lovely flattie round our way, she's a total sweetheart. Still not a breed I'd choose myself.

I have just come back from Crufts. Had a great day, lots of shopping, watched Philippa Williams and her team doing two demos which were really fun to watch, and watched some of the BASC classes in the game keepers ring with some great looking working Labradors but very few spaniels sadly, due to the rules on showing dogs with docked tails. The show Labradors were way, way too heavy for my liking unfortunately.

Best of breed was another Loch Mor dog - Giulietta (very similar to Loch Mor Romeo of last year) - they are heavy dogs.

I would have put the Pointer first but never mind, the flatty is a gorgeous dog too. ;)

Didn't like the Lab at all.

I like Viszlas but I wasn't taken at all by either of those that made best of breed as well. Maybe that's just me.... The shorthaired seemed really dainty in comparison to how I thought they were supposed to look.

Some of the Labradors in the BASC gamekeepers class at Crufts yesterday. All the dogs have to have a declaration signed by a game keeper that they are working on shooting estates. The yellow dog on the left won the class. It was a very large class with predominantly working bred dogs. I could only spot one dog that was typically show bred.

The lady on the left with the winning dog is a member of Philippa Williams' gundog demo team and has won a field trial. :D

No wonder I like it so much ;)

My friends yellow dog is very similar looks wise (from what I can see obvs) and I think he's fab. Really solid, powerful, athletic dog and I love that dark yellow with lighter patches. Just gorgeous!
