Was sooooo impressed with the demo of the gundogs... Never really realised what it all entailed
Lauren, was this televised?
No I'm pretty sure it wasn't. They did it in the main arena but early this morning and yesterday. It was just a quick demo as part of the 'dog activities' section with included demos of working trials, obedience, rally, etc.

The gundog demos usually end up on YouTube eventually :)

    Ban those leads
They were slip leads. Thin rope and chain slip leads. Like you see on loads of dogs.

Not that I'd argue against a ban...

I thought the King Charles and the Tibetan spaniel were bred as companion dogs, not gundogs. I might have that completely wrong, of course, knowing not much about spaniels apart from that I want one!

I was going to comment on tonight's farce. :p
But I will just wait for the you tube videos of the gundog demos to see some proper working dogs. 8)

The only decent part was the Friends for life dogs.

I much preferred the black bitch. More moderate in build and I thought that she moved more fluidly too.

Romeo seems like a lovely natured dog but he is so flipping wide!!! Not the look for me.

Yes, Romeo had much more flair in the ring though, he was definitely more eye catching. He's chunky, for sure.

Love this pic, and this little dog. I think there is a youtube video of him somewhere too.

Having said that, not quite sure why American cockers are in the gundog group as I don't think they were traditionally used as gundogs. Might be wrong there though.

Whereas poodles, that were used as gundogs, are not in the gundog group. Not sure how they came up with the categories.

I was disappointed by that. For a moment I thought that this dog "Quincy" was the winner - as reported by the slimdoggy facebook page, but it was the Veteran class that he won.

I think he is a better looking dog than Romeo

I feel a bit odd saying there is a lot I can find to like about Romeo. Not how chunky he is, but when I look at his face and the way he is and interacts with people in the ring, I can see why the judges say he hits something in terms of being a Labrador.

I like Quincy. Kris is Charlie's great grandaddy.
