Re: Cushings disease hi everyone, Julie our vet has just rang and megs does have cushings disease. Have got to go tomorrow morning to pick up tablets and then in 10 days Julie will do repeat blood tests like yesterday to check she is getting the right dosage. In some ways its a relief cos i knew there was something wrong and now I know what it is and its treatable. Thanks for your support. Will keep you all informed how she goes on. x
Re: Cushings disease I`m sorry that this has been diagnosed, but as you rightly say , at least you now know what you are dealing with and can get on with treatment , hoping your dear girl will feel lots better soon x
Re: Cushings disease Wishing you and your lovely girl my very best wishes and hope she feels better soon. xx
Re: Cushings disease Sorry to hear about the results, but as others have said at least you know what is wrong, and it can be treated. Please do let us know how Meg goes on.
Re: Cushings disease Hi everyone, Just a quick update on Megs. She started on vetoryl 90mgs on Thursday morning. Already she has stopped drinking a lot and weeing. Also her wee incontinence seems to have cleared up. (touch wood). Julie did say we might be able to discontinue the propalin and incurin for the incontinence once the cushings is under control so will keep her on them for the time being. So all things considered feel a lot happier about things. She doesn't seem to be having any ill effects from vetoryl. All the information I've looked up says it is well tolerated. Can't wait now for the fur to grow back from when she had her ultrasound. Bless her it shows when we're out walking. Doesn't bother her though
Re: Cushings disease So glad Megs is responding well to treatment hopefully her fur will grow back quickly
Re: Cushings disease Thanks for the update - it's good to hear that the meds are working as they should! Clare
Re: Cushings disease Hi everyone, Just a quick update on Megs. She started vetoryl 90ms daily about a fortnight ago for the Cushings and everything was fine for a week and then last Thursday she just wouldn't eat. She's never been a big eater (I know strange for a lab ). I tried everything and ended up hand feeding her. Thought she might have a phobia to her bowl because each time I put it down she tried to turn it over and then walked away. So bought new bowl, chicken, fish, tinned food (she doesn't normally have that), and 2 other different types of dried food, Wainwrights and James Wellbeloved. Still no eating. Rang vet and told her. Meg was due to have blood test to check right dosage so had that done on Wednesday this week. I went out today and bought a product called Fishermans which is fish, potato and seaweed and a bag of mixer. She scoffed the lot. Blood results back and dosage ok although Julie did say we could maybe lower dosage if she still refuses to eat so am going to see how she goes over the weekend and let Julie know Monday. In herself she's absolutely fine. She's running around park like a puppy. People we meet can't believe her age. Must admit she doesn't look it. So will see how she goes. Jen
Re: Cushings disease Ah...glad you found her a food she likes. At 14, she is a grand old lady, and entitled to be a bit picky, I reckon. Glad to hear she seems to be doing ok, hope she continues to improve.
Re: Cushings disease Hope she continues to like her new food. I must say though, my old boys became increasingly picky eaters with age. I became a bit desperate.. Especially the very ancient spaniel / lab cross had a great way of looking at his food, then giving a huge sigh, and walking away while giving me a terribly sad look, which clearly said 'You want to feed me that muck, while you are cooking chicken breast / salmon / steak for yourself?? And you say that you love me.. :'( '. Worked every time, I am a sucker for sad old dog eyes.. Puppies I can withstand; old dogs never.
