    Hello everyone!

Bob cut his bottom lip a bit today when we were out.. probably a sharp bit of stick, it's the only thing I can think of. It bled a bit but stopped fairly quickly. I had a sports water bottle with me and I squirted it into and around the area of his mouth but haven't done anything since. Should we just leave it to heal or see the vet? I know mouths in humans tend to heal quite quickly but wanted to see what others thought.

    Thank you,
    Louise

If it's not bothering him and it's not too large I would just keep an eye on it for a couple of days.

I would leave it if it's not bothering him and not bleeding any more. Hope it heals quickly x

Thank you, he's taken himself to his crate downstairs, which is quite unlike him tbh... usually he follows us upstairs in the evenings... He's totally sparko. But like OH said, he ate his dinner with gusto so there can't be all that much wrong with him! But I shall be keeping an eye on it... if it looks at all sore or inflamed in the morning, I'll pop along to the vet.

Does it look like it'd need a stitch to hold it together? If not, and it's not bleeding, I'm sure it'll be fine. Poor lad!

Small cuts, bumps and bruises are par for the course, I'm afraid. Our very active dogs are quite likely to have the occasional accident - learning to know your dog, and when to take him to the vet is part of being a good dog owner. Your description of Bob's lip doesn't sound too bad, but keep a close eye on him and if anything seems wrong, then straight off to the vets!
