The night before last, DH and I fell asleep on the sofa. It happens quite often. Our sofa is just too bloomin' comfortable! Anyway, by morning, the puppies hadn't moved out of their new Scruffs beds. Even at 7:30am, Willow didn't want to get up out of hers. So, we decided that last night we'd try to leave them out of their crate with us in the bedroom. Yes, we made it to bed last night This morning, there was a little bark from one of them at about 7:15, but that was it. Other than that, they didn't move. J had checked on them a few times during the night via the video cameras we have set up in the living room, and he said they were curled up in their beds each time. He got up a few minutes before me, which is pretty unusual, and went to greet the pups. I have to say at this point that he has a cold at the moment, and is especially bunged up in the mornings. As soon as I walked out of the bedroom, I smelled it. Oops. I walked into the living room, and there he was on his hands and knees, cleaning the floor. Poor Willow had had a runny tum. John hadn't turned the lights on when he entered the living room, just walked across the room to open the curtains. And, he had walked straight in it. In his socks. It squidged between his toes. That must have been what the bark was about, not the noisy neighbours we had assumed. Still, even with that, he said "That was a big success last night!". I thought he was joking, but apparently not! Poor John, what a start to his day!
Re: Decrating at night trial. Um. Ooo-er. Pongo decrated himself aged about 8 months (he destroyed the door to his 'bedroom' and we took the hint...). And on the very first night he was left downstairs with the run of the sittingroom, he left us a massive pile in the morning.... it was just bad luck that we'd given him a big juicy lamb bone late in the day and it went straight through him! But it was just bad luck - he's been perfectly OK since then (we've learned to avoid large lamb-bones after noon...)
Re: Decrating at night trial. Um. In hindsight, she had a lamb bone for her lunch. First time having lamb. Penny dropped. ;D
Re: Decrating at night trial. Um. ;D Great pups think alike! This was Pongo's expression when we came down in the morning to discover that he'd decrated himself from his lovely little home under the stairs. "Honest dad, it just fell off. I never touched it. Honest." https://www.dropbox.com/s/almuc0cc81oquw1/prison break.jpg?dl=0
Re: Decrating at night trial. Um. My sympathies to your husband (I speak from personal experience). Sounds like it was a blip though - hopefully Are you going to have another try tonight, sans lamb?
Re: Decrating at night trial. Um. Bet he was glad for the socks! Poor Willow, hope her tum is OK now. Sounds like it was a success from the point of view of de-crating though

If she's firm, we'll go for it It always comes back to poo ... ;D
Re: Decrating at night trial. Um. I left the crate door open last night and Inca was fine, she was actually still asleep in her crate when I came down this morning. You have reminded me however of my favourite dog poo story where my dad came in for lunch one day after a horrible, miserable wet morning on the farm, sat down to have his lunch and discovered one of the dogs had left a little surprise for him under the table. No one enjoys standing in dog poo in their socks!
