Hi everybody,Dexter and I just wanted to check in as we miss you all and all your news but this holiday lark is very time consuming! Dexter is settling into Country life very well, his mind isn't so blown now that he can't listen ,it was at first ....Walking is much better,he's back on just a collar and lead in the places we are a lot.I did buy a halti but Its still in the packet...... Out in the fields he's mostly still on a longline ..his recall is good,I have had fails though and I haven't got the quick whip around that I have back at home ....he makes the decision in a more indolent fashion which doesn't give me confidence...too much time for him to make a wrong decision.I'm going to try and find something a bit more tempting from the deli counter today! We have joined a dog club to pursue our Silver Level Obedience ....I wasn't so sure about that 2 weeks ago but I reckon we have a reasonable chance at it now ...that starts on Wednesday evening .and we have 2 gun dog classes booked with Phillipa Williams Thursday and Friday this week.I'm a bit apprehensive but I don't think we have got anything at all to lose....we will probably be a total embarrassment but I'm going to come away having learned something and having had the experience of going to 'proper' structured class ..... Around dog news I'm incredibly occupied with visitors,it was the Great Yorkshire Show last week in Harrogate and we are on the way so we were a perfect stop off point ....great to see everybody and it's so nice to be in one place rather than it be us whizzing around everywhere packing and unpacking to see folk.... Right off to walk the Country Boy.....I hope to be able to call him a Country Gent by the end of the Summer....but let's see Sorry to not be as up to date with your news as Id like to be ,but we hope you are all having a lovely Summer too x
I was lucky enough to go to Philipa Williams obedience and gundog classes, many, many moons ago when she lived in Gloucestershire, have also been on a week's gundog holiday a few years back. You have no need to feel embarressed in any way as Philipa is a great teacher and will make the class fun and interesting and you will learn an amazing amount.
Glad to hear it's all going well, Angela! I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I think of Dex in the green fields of England and escaping the hot desert....what a wonderful dog mummy you are to give him that chance!
Ah I'm just incredibly lucky to be able to do it Lisa and I do appreciate that ,it's so nice to have him with me and it's so lovely to just pick up a lead whenever I want to without being so governed by the clock ....I've still kind of fallen into a routine though, you know me,love a good routine! Thanks Stacia ,that's really good to know ,I've loved the pre lesson info .....lots of positive reinforcement equipment to take and really emphasised that we will be using flat collar and leads ...that such a relief ....anything I've attended in Dubai has always had an edge of anxiety to it wondering if it really will be as positive as they advertise! I'll let you all know how we get on..... Best wishes to all x
We've been delivering Camels today .... Where have we been ? ..... I'll pop back after I've browsed around your news in the boards ...
Ah such a lovely afternoon Met our long time Forum Favourite Tatze ..... and she is wonderful X Kara makes you want a puppy ...immediately she is clever and confident and Mags has done a wonderful care taking job with her Dexter had a lot of fun with them both ... And gave Aunty Mags his best 'begging but not begging ' face .... So lovely to meet Forum Friends in the flesh .... Thankyou for hosting the Desert Visitors xxx
Oops, that crossed with the photos of the trio! Glad that you're able to do some visiting while you're here!
And this has been him for most of this evening .... And he tells me he wants his very own puppy.....he can't take the pace!
