Hope you manage to get Blake's diet sorted soon. You're doing such s great job with him, and he's such a lovely boy. Fingers crossed for the results from Cyprus and your chat with the vet.
Wow! That is a huge amount of food! Spoke to the vet today, and he is happy for us to up his food intake, his stools aren't too bad now. We need to keep on the Royal Canin, just for a couple of weeks, for the nutrient value. We can supplement with chicken and rice, and to review in a couple of weeks.
The good news is Blake has put on 0.8 kg since last Wednesday evening...absolutely thrilled! Can't believe that a lab putting on weight could make me so happy....
Great news! That's a fab amount in a week. He must be feeling so much better than he has in a long time
Blake has fully recovered from his anaemia,. The large infected abscess on his back has completely healed and just a spot of scar tissue is all that remains. We gave up we trying to get any info from Cyprus getting accurate blood chemistry so our vet kindly did their own full work up on Blake..free of charge. This all came back with nothing to report. Still on-going was the weight issue, he would gain a bit, then drop back, really frustrating! I really didn't want to mess around with different diets, so I contacted the nutritionist at Millieswolfheart to ask for advice. They suggested peak Performance and I started the next day. Well, what a surprise! Blake's weight has jumped from 23.9kg...up to 26.5kg! In less than a week! We are really happy as this means he is probably only a couple kgs of his ideal weight now. The Peak Performance formula consists of 30% fat, 23% protein and reasonably low in fibre @2.5% I have added a link below in case anyone else is in a similar situation. https://www.millieswolfheart.co.uk/Peak-Performance-65-35-0-High-Fat We will now start to blend his food in with the other labs, which is still MW but they have the salmon and veg (single source protein)
So good to hear that Blake's health problems are resolved and a fantastic weight gain in a week. Well done you and Blake
