Twiglet is a real digger in the garden, she will dig anything! She gets huge clumps of grass up in no time, despite her tidgy size. I mentioned it to my supervisor today and she suggested a sandpit where Twiglet can dig 'legally' and to divert her there whenever she feels like digging. To hide toys in there etc to make it even more enjoyable. She said digging is a natural behaviour which helps dogs relax. When they go to school at 12 months old they have a huge, paddock sized sandpit to play in alongside fields and doggy playgrounds. (Twiglet is a guide dog puppy, here is her blog - http://twigletgdp.blogspot.co.uk/ )
Great idea, better make sure that it's got a cover though otherwise Twiglet will be finding other "presents" in the sand from local cats.
