Glad you managed to get her to the vet. As I said it's always better to be safe than sorry!

I heard a baking tray is good for catching urine but have to admit I've not tried that one myself. We got on ok with a small shallow Tupperware box and we had to collect so many over the early months I'm sure Penny got to thinking it was pretty normal to have a tub shoved under her whilst she was having a wee!

    a small shallow bowl
    a ladle
    a quarter pint canning jar
    a small tea cup

pretty much you just have to be tricky. With my Bella, I just keep her on a very short leash, and have a very small little specimen jar (about an ounce), and when I need the sample, I just say right close to her, and when she squats, I flash the little specimen jar under her and catch. I've followed Bella around with pH strips for weeks, so a cup wasn't much different in her mind...catch the sample, screw the lid on, and wipe hands and jar with paper towel from my pocket...and that's it. My vet says really they just need 1cc or so...so a very small amount....but more is always nice. ;)

Back to the vets, water sample was clear, but still some discharge so they recommended a course of antibiotics just to be sure. Then go back in a week. Then I need to start thinking about her spay, my baby's growing up!!! :-[

Yeah, she was just under 40 pounds when I had her done....so....18kg and some change... but all the tissues are so small, blood vessels and all that it makes it really easy on them.

But here in the US they are very much into spaying young....with males they want to wait longer, but the girls get done very young.

Juno was 5.5 months and around 18/19 kilos at the time. I discussed her spay with the vet on our visit for her second round of vaccinations. Our vet is happy to spay from five months onwards and in her opinion it's better done before the first season.
