Having had a female lab of about 10 flare up with pyometra which could have been avoided if she had been speyed earlier, I would definitely recommend the op. Say a year or so after the last litter. It can be fatal. Fortunately she was a strong and healthy dog and made a full recovery but still a horrid experience for her which we could have missed completely.
