I don't see a section for it, I guess the logical place would be with agility and flyball? But I posed here to catch more attention. I googled and it seems Rally is still fairly new in the UK?
I've never heard of before.......just googled it. It looks like it would fit in the agility/flyball section. Is it something you do?
I think @Oberon might have done some - I think there was a thread about it before, surprised you didn't find it. http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/rally-obedience.2597/#post-27980 Although not in the UK! This is though http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/rally-o-classes-in-the-uk.3766/#post-48016
It's not as popular in the UK as other countries I don't think, but classes are not too hard to find. I was thinking about it at one point, but just had too much other stuff to do in the end - I found a few classes when I looked though. Scentwork is still at the top of my list (I had to cancel my workshop next week because we decided to go on holiday ).
I had a very short (15 minute) taster session with my dog club last summer and think it's something I'd like to do. It's quite a way for me to travel though.
I looked at those link just now. No, it's not like doggie dancing, not here it isn't. That sounds more like musical canine freestyle. It's a mix of obedience and agility but more forgiving. Heeling allows the dog to be much further away than obedience does, for example but on the other hand there are more changes of direction so if the dog is sloppy heeling he'll miss a change. And there is a pronounced emphasis on your dog looking as if it is enjoying itself. There's not much agility till you get into the higher levels. Yes we did it till Oban wrecked his leg and now we are at excellent level with more jumps and it's too hard on his leg. We did CKC and CARO, talk about confusing. CARO has a working level that I had high hopes for. It was brand new and I really thought Oban had a good crack at it. There is lots of action, bits of Obedience Utility in it, lots of running, fetching, object discrimination and completely made up things like barrel racing and he loved it. My sister tried it with her dog, at a different place, and was bored silly. We thought it was fun. Oban did get bored after a while, that's when we went to the working level with it's increased action.
Sounds fun! Unfortunately I have no opportunities to do anything class-wise with my dog...wish I did!
