    Hello,
I think I've been here before but anyway, I have a very large (85.5 lbs) yellow lab and she has always been more than a handful for me and my hubby. But we have made it to the 2 1/2 year mark so far.

Our problem: She is a "Houdini" dog and can escape out of any restraint we use on her except a choke chain which we only use in an emergency.

We resorted to a nice strong looking harness (we thought) but somehow she can get out of it and we have had some scary moments when that happened.

Can you recommend a harness that she could not get out of?
    Thanks
    psl

Hi Pauline welcome (back?) to the forum!

This article on our sister site might also help you out - in it Jo Laurens (who also posts here regularly) shares her top three harnesses for Labradors, based on her vast experience as a dog trainer :)

Thank you, Sarah. I still can't see much difference in any of the harnesses I see and the one we use. I'm thinking maybe we should tighten it more but I hate to get it too tight. This is the one we have.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the exact fit over the internet. As a rule of thumb, I've seen manufacturers and dog trainers recommend that you should only be able to fit two or three fingers between the front of the harness and your girl's chest. I appreciate that inexact guides like these can feel unhelpful, but I'm sure a local dog trainer would be happy to help you out, and give you some tips on making the most of using one. Alternatively, you could ask your vet to check it next time you're at the clinic :)
