Hello don't know if this is the right place to post this , with winter approaching I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good paw protector ointment or cream to give my young dogs paw some protection from road salt and ice also rough terrain so his paws don't crack or gets cuts . I stay in Scotland so weather not to severe just want to keep my dog in good health and condition . Thanks in advance

I use Mushers paw wax and it is really god. It's expensive but it lasts a long time

Salt might be a problem, but snow and ice never seem to bother our dogs. Tilly used to run 3-1/2 miles down the glade ski trail several times a winter and all of our dogs have gone cross country skiing with us. Our friends Sammys seem to build up snowballs between their toes, but it doesn't happen with our Labs. We have used RoughWare dog boots a few times, but mostly only to make sure we could get the dogs to wear them if we ever needed to. They have better traction when they don't have boots on.

Musher's Secret definitely helps protect against the salt. My two find it really uncomfortable walking on salty roads. I've had Willow holding up two paws and trying to lift a third on a salty road - it's obviously quite sore for her. The paw wax helps. It makes your own hands feel soft after applying it, too, which is a bonus :)
