Re: Ducklings You norty people : ;D
The carport looks awesome! What a hot weekend you had to put them up.
Yes, putting the roofing iron on was particularly hellish. But it's up And for the first time in years we are able to come out to our cars in the morning and find them completely free of possum wee (we have several resident possums and they seem to spend most of every night sitting in the trees above the driveway, peeing).
Re: Ducklings O! Possums! How lovely (never been to Australia, a tiny bit of my brain refuses to believe marsupials are real). ;D ;D ;D
Re: Ducklings Haha, they are real and their wee is like paint-stripper Possums also make the most horrendous noises at night. They are cute though.
Re: Ducklings Just 'koalas' not 'koala bears' There are some that live in a nature reserve south of Canberra called Tidbinbilla. There's one in this picture
Re: Ducklings
Just 'koalas' not 'koala bears'
O, have trouble not adding "bears", I suppose they aren't bears at all, no. Is it in the V of the middle tree towards the top of the picture? Harder than spot the spaniel!
Re: Ducklings Lisa, I'm not sure! But I'll look once I'm on the big computer and I'll circle it Ariel had a little sit on my lap. You can see how his feathers are all edged in a darker blue, which is called lacing. His lacing is as good as you could hope for. Christopher's is not bad. It's always less pronounced in the girls but they are pretty good for girls Duckling video.... http://flic.kr/p/jYnMJi
Re: Ducklings After spending time with Milly I can certainly see similarities. We had mulch put down yesterday and after a swim in our little pool and a dig in the mulch she made beautiful mud, she has a great fondness to toes and the biting of them, and although she has no feathers, to have any lacing, she really does love laces! So yes I can see the similarities lol.
Re: Ducklings Aw, how nice!! Hope there wasn't too much toe biting Ah, Milly's first mud pie She'll fit right in when she meets the ducklings on Saturday! Lisa, here's that koala. This is pretty much all you see of them in the wild. But if you go to a zoo or wildlife park you can see them close up and in some places have a cuddle too (for a fee!).
Re: Ducklings
Duckling video....
Harri got 3 peas! Good girl. You need to be a bit pushier, Harri. Sharper elbows, that's what you need.
Re: Ducklings Yes, I'm afraid that Harri is a little backward when it comes to being forward in the pea stakes. She won't eat out of my hand yet (but, as mentioned, can savage a toe with the best of them). I need to give her more lap time - when they sit on my lap they get their own hand-fed peas (much to the consternation of pea-fiends Christopher and Woodget) and that makes them a lot more confident with hand-feeding on the ground. I actually have a few days off work now (don't have to go back till Tuesday next week, barring a crisis) so I can spend a lot of time with them And with Obi of course.....

Harri pics are coming... I can feel it... Love to Obi....
Re: Ducklings So Harri had some lap time today with the aim of getting her to eat out of my hand on the ground. Peas on tap are the way to a duckling's heart.. Meri was standing on tipitoes to get a share of the pea action. Back on the ground and Harri is a bit bolder. Moar peas!!! Success! Where are you hiding those peas?? Here? Is that peas? Ariel getting a bit bitey. He's not as bad as Harrison though, who has worked hard to perfect the 'grab the skin on the top of the foot and thrash your head about like a crocodile' method of human intimidation. They get their peas in this red enameled jug. The sight of the jug heralds much excitement. This here is Christopher. You can see the crazy look of the pea addict in his eye. I was washing the cars earlier (next to the duckling pen) and I was using a red microfibre towel to dry them off. Even the sight of the red towel brought all the quackers to their gate in a chatty gaggle. When the peas are almost gone they are allowed to eat the remainder straight out of the jug. Will do Woodget's profile tomorrow
