Re: Ducklings Don't worry, I've made sure of that! He's got the bottom end and I've got the relatively unsullied head end.
Re: Ducklings Well, we made it through the night, but we had some rather horrific offerings to pick up on our walk. Thanks, dog :

Re: Ducklings Apparently swans (or some make of swans!) all have different patterns on their bills, no two are alike, does this also apply to ducks?

Good spot!
Re: Ducklings Ha, that's great, Angela ;D Stacia, I've not heard that about ducks so I don't know if it's true of them. Many ducks have a solid bill colour, with no pattern, but some do have markings on the bill and I guess these would be one things ducks use to recognise each other. My ducks definitely know who is in their group and who isn't. There's no doubt that they recognise each other as individuals.
Re: Ducklings The ducklings have had a change of accommodations. Marco, LaPerouse and Freycinet have moved into the ducklings' house. The ducklings have moved into Marco, LaPerouse and Freycinet's larger premises. The ducklings had quite a lot of time out in the backyard today. From left to right that's Harrison, Meriwether, Ariel, Temeriare, Christopher and Woodget. And Lambie. The ducklings like to hang out near their old house, calling out rude things to Marco. Marco is too old and wise to respond. So the ducklings get frustrated and start fighting amongst themselves. Here, Woodget and Meriwether are having a fight while everyone else watches. No-one gets hurt. Here are my other duck houses. The yard is kind of divided up into duck zones, so they can all have their own spot for free-ranging. The 'front area' has got a paddling pool. Obi is fishing in it for duck feathers (which are apparently both tasty and nutritious). After a feather snack, he likes to go on an egg hunt. Although the ducks have nests in their houses, sometimes they are caught short in the yard, and then they use their secret nests (not secret to a Labrador). He scored! He is very gentle with the eggs and if I am there I have a good chance of retrieving them intact. He wants to show you his new toy, a car sponge. He says he is not really that short and fat - it's the camera. Whatever you say, Obi.
Re: Ducklings They look wonderful Love Obi ferreting in the bushes for eggs. Still looking glam Obi x
