    Re: Ducklings

Sorry! I have been away all day and tomorrow isn't much better (usually my weekends are busier than my weekdays :) ).

Pretty sure that the small blue one is a girl, yellow one certainly is a girl, and big blue one is a boy. They're all living outside 24/7 now. They still want human company though and love having someone sit with them. They're all going very well.

Here's a pic from yesterday :) Small blue on the left (note that the s is only a capital as it's at the beginning of a sentence).

Yes, but I may keep this one. Because of his parents he's both valuable from a breeding perspective and is unlikely to have brown feathers. He has a really great bib. We'll see how he goes though :)

    Re: Ducklings

We have a maritime theme - ducks get named after sea explorers or ships or something related :) But I'll wait to decide once I'm sure I want to keep him. Male ducks have to be pretty good from a breed standard perspective to warrant keeping. He is certainly looking good so far but it's important to wait till they're grown up to finally decide.

Haha, just read Jacqui's reply ;D

You guys did a fab job choosing names. It was just a bit hard to say goodbye though...that's why I have the 'no name' rule :)

I can't help but love yellow. I know it's because of her classic duckling looks, buy hey, still lovely. :)

Thanks for the update, Rachel. Waiting with bated breath to see if small blue will be up to snuff, so to speak. How exciting for you if that is the case!! :)

I've put one of the pools in the ducklings' pen.

In this pic you can see the small blue one who has ended up flat on her back, having failed, despite being a duck, to successfully execute a duck dive.
