I see you all your posts about working with a dummy, do you think I should try that with Charlie? Willing to try anything that will keep his attention. Received my T Touch book today, so am going to have a read and get to work. If it works might use it on my children!!!! ;) Helen x

Good luck with the T Touch Helen , I found it really helped my last dog to relax and be more calm , I like the idea of using it on children too :)
A dummy might help Charlie to focus more , Sam just adores his , it means work and concentration which could be jus the ticket for Charlie , so pleased that he has improved :)

It's really true - the dummy is somehow so much more valuable to my dogs than any old sticks they find... It could really help focus Charlie, particularly if you dont let him have it very often, but just when you want him to concentrate and 'work'. I'd give it a go.

TTouch has been brilliant at helping Hebe with her firework phobia, the ear rubs one. I use at other times too so it doesn't become associated with fireworks and when she's not bouncing off the ceiling she gets quite' blissed out' by it.
I know a couple of people who have used TTouch as their reward / praise - admittedly not with labs but it might be worth giving a go.
    Hope it helps with Charlie.

I think Labs just love doing stuff with a proper dummy. Lady absolutely loves doing blind retrieves and the harder the better now really. The trick is to get the dog down wind of the dummy so he/she can scent it. I'm sure there's loads of good advice on Pippa's pages here if you search for it. The dog needs to get to know to look at you, know about stop (look at me) whistle, hand signals, back command and all that good stuff and you can have hours of endless fun working up from just very basic retrieve to the more complicated stuff as far as you want to go really. I just use it all as a game with Lady and admit to being just a rank amateur in these matters but I get a lot of fun out of it.
